Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction - Page Text Content

America's Greatest Weapon, Could Be It's Greatest Enemy.

 Europe Safe Houses + Caches

The setting of the book takes place in many parts of Europe, and throughout the story Sam Fisher has to make use of the many safe houses available in Europe to secret government agents like himself. He is called a Splinter Cell, and is found traveling a lot on missions. He uses this map to find locations of the nearest safe houses and weapons caches when he needs them. All he has to do is bring up this map on his OPSAT(hand-held computer), find a safe house location, and use the latitude and longitude of the location as the entry password.

(Pictures from left to right, top to bottom) 1. SC20 Suppressed Pistol-Sam's primary sidearm in the field. 2. SC20K Assault Rifle-Sam's primary rifle in the field, can fire multiple projectiles (bottom left). 3. Sam's OPSAT-a wrist computer that he uses basically everywhere, for communicating, looking up/storing data etc. 4. Trident Night-vision Goggles-Sam uses these on nighttime missions, also has Thermal and Electro-Magnetic vision. 5. Projectiles for SC20K(bottom left clockwise)-air ring foil (stuns enemies), gas grenade, sticky shocker (stuns), sticky camera. 6. Sam's Splinter Cell Suit

Throughout the story, Sam Fisher travels to many exotic places in Europe. He starts making a list of his favorite places where he would want to retire. His top three were Vianden, Luxembourg, Bavigne, Luxembourg, and Portinho de Arrabida. In the end he lives at the third place, and as a thank you from the U.S. government they give him a years free lease in a giant ocean view villa. He picks these places not only for their looks, but also the food they have in the best resaurants.

Dear Dad, Hi Dad, it's Sarah, I haven't heard from you in a while and tried calling a couple times to reply to your call but it couldn't connect, it said you were out of the service range or something. Anyway, I just wanted to see how things were going wherever you are. You really should let me know what you do, its weird being twenty one and still not knowing what you're dad does for a living. I'm having a great time at college, working on a PhD in Medicine. Hope to see you soon! -Love Sarah Fisher

Being a top secret government agent, Sam Fisher is forced to keep those who he loves in the dark about his profession, including his daughter Sarah. She is the only family he has left since his wife died from cancer after Sarah was born. He has a pretty distant relationship with her, only being able to visit her when he's not out in the world on government business, which isn't too often. He tries to keep her existence quiet, since if he is afraid that if his enemies were to find out about her that they would use her as bait or ransom to get to him.

Sam Fisher has to travel far and wide, to basically every country on his missions. This means he needs passports to these countries. Many are forged, but are forged so well that they never fail him. He either collects and saves his passports for future missions, but sometimes he has to destroy them if they are compromised, meaning his enemies or unwanted others figure out they are forged, or fake.

Sam Fisher doesn't consider himself to be a sentimental person, but as he grows older he decides that he might as well start collecting things to remind him of all his missions he's done. This page has stamps he collected during this particular book, one from each place he was for any period of time. He usually buys the stamps from an airport, since he finds himself almost always traveling from country to country for missions.

Sam Fisher's number one goal and purpose in Third Echelon is the safety of the United States of America. So, it makes sense for him to keep records of current terrorist leaders and to know their faces, should one of them become a problem where he would have to get involved. It is very important that Fisher be up to date on all the worlds main terrorist leaders.

While in Serbia for the final stage of Sam's mission to stop a huge illegal auction of WMD's (weapon of mass destruction), he has to make a stop too a local army surplus store to buy clothing and gear necessary for getting to the hidden location of the auction. He only knows where it is because he previously planted a tracking beacon on one of the terrorists attending the auction to find the motherload. He buys mainly warm clothing and snow gear, and a sleeping bag. He also rents a boat for getting across a huge lake in the way. He uses a forged Visa credit card to buy these things, and has to use an alias name so he himself can't be tracked.

After stopping the weapons auction, and stopping global panic from erupting as a result of terrorists having WMD's, Sam is rewarded by the U.S. government with a huge oceanside villa that was confiscated from one of the auction leaders. Sam Fisher has a one year free lease, and then its back to work...
