FC: You Wouldn’t Want to work on a Plantation as a African-American Slave | By: Julianna #12 | My life on the PLantation January 7 It was so scary being bought then sold then bought again. I loved my home in Africa muck better than this. My mom, my dad, all my siblings are gone forever. My mother cried bitterly when I was taken from her arms. When she ran after me the master gave her a good whippin. I didn't know what ti do. My nice peaceful village, that is all that keeps me going in hope that one day i might return to what I once had. | My Life March 19 It was so scary! I tried to work but they pushed me so much. In blistering cold all year round. Is it because I am not used to it? I honestly don't know. | Dear Family, I love you guys with all my heart. I hope to escape soon to come back to you.I must go. Your son | FAmily in the village of Africa
l | So, I hear that you want to live on a plantation as an African-American slave during the Age of Exploration? WOW! Now that is crazy, because everyone knows (or should know) | that they treated slaves very poorly. It's like getting T.V. or an iPod taken away for a year. That's how they treated slaves and worse. So please believe me, but if your a stuborn kid I | know I will change your mind by the end of my speech, because my speeches are like the ones parents give you when your in trouble, it makes you think.
So, first of all, I will tell you how you would be treated on a plantation, cause really how were you treated on a plantation? Well, so, lets start with the cruel overseers. They will work you till death! The overseers were payed to get the most work out of slaves possible. Therefor often times, if you don’t work hard enough you could be whipped. And I know what you are thinking “I’m just a innocent child”. Ha! Doesn’t matter how old you are, if you don’t do the work, ya get a good whipping. Really doesn’t matter if your a child or adult, man or woman, don’t do work you get beaten. So basically you were a piece of property! Yet if you had a nicer owner you could go on trips with them. Now don’t get your hopes up! That was rare! Now have I convinced you? Well if I haven’t I got loads more things to tell.
Work. Work. That is all you ever did! Even children. But work did you do? They didn’t get to go and play with your owners children. They had to help out. It doesn't matter if your a girl or boy, because you would all still do work. The girls and woman would sometimes work in the house, if your owners owned a big house sometimes you got to help out there. They also did laundry, sewing, cleaning, cooking, pretty much every other chore known to man. A boy or man would work in the fields. On a plantation you got up at 4:30 everyday and worked till sunset Monday through Friday and half of Saturday. Even if it was blistering cold or dangerous winds. Oh and you didn't get new clothes related to the season. So that is what you were excepted to do.
O.K., so if I haven’t yet convinced you with my brilliant speeches I know that after I tell what you have to do to avoid the punishments that I haven’t told you about, I would believe you are a crazy insane person! No if you still don’t believe me you aren’t a person your a...... Monster! Now I don’t want to believe you are a monster but... I might be mistaken. So punishments: whipping, beating, anything you would consider child-abuse. Wait this the twenty-first century! So...... oh create this picture in your mind. You are hot and tired then you scrap your knee. That really hurts! That is what you would feel and worse! What I am saying is that do what the overseers tell you to do. Honestly! Trust the person who has researched this for years. (Or a few weeks) Still trust me. | I studied the | of Slavery
Now I hope I have changed your mixed-up mind for believing that it would be fun to live on a plantation as a slave during the Age of Exploration. Sadly, if you still don’t believe me you are either really messed up or you will be in big trouble. Just like I said, if you don’t believe me, there is nothing that will change your mind now, because as I told you I have been studying this stuff for years. (Or I could be exaggerating) | Handy Hint: If you still don't believe me you might want to watch what you eat cause sometimes the food wasn't even suitable for animals to eat. | AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ZOMBIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | Remember! You don't want to work on a plantation as an African-American slave
