S: A Good Life
FC: of change | A Good Life BY Connor Walsh CW Publishing inc.
A Year in Review | In a far away village beyond the horizon was a lonely house. Three very angry people lived in it: the Butler, father, and Haddix all in a single house together. Haddix was about 5 when his mother died at age 36 in a burning building. And ever since they never were happy.
fling | Now Haddix is 10 an he got no presents not even a piece of cake. Most kids got presents and a nice card full of good wishes. He got nothing. Everyday at school he had no friends but a little stray cat he found outside. He named him Pippen. He always thought about running away but for he had no money
The more you laugh the longer you live | The next morning Father was having a huge fit about the Butler spilling milk for his cereal. He started throwing chairs around and getting even more furious. Haddix came over and tried calming him down but he hit him with one of the chairs, with a cut on his arm he told his Father he will run away and never come back!
Spring is Here | But of course his Father didn't listen. As his ordeal was over, his wallet fell out of his pocket and Haddix snatched it before his Father saw it. At about 4:00 in the morning Haddix packed his bag with clothes and a sleeping bag and walked out the front door as quietly as possible, but as he was going the Butler saw him, he had a confused look on his face like where are you going? I said nothing. And I left without a trace.
I must have walked for my whole life into the deep dark forest, because I walked until I could no longer hear the freeway. Morning was almost here and I was getting hungry. I brought a survival guide that I got when I was 4. The book told me everything about getting fish. I made a hook out of some bark and some pieces of wood I snapped off of a dead tree.
is in the air... | After about an hour or so I had about 3 small trout. The trouts were gone in about 20 minutes and I had to eat them raw because I had no fire. Something inside of me said if I want to survive the Winter I would need to build a fire. Soon I was on my way to the blacksmiths place in town which I new would have some flint and steel to make sparks. I walked in all casual and I said “do you have some flint I could use”.
The clerk told me everything he new about striking flint and after a while I got the hang of it. But when it was dark out at my little campground I couldn't see 3 ft. ahead of me, I was miserable and I couldn't get a good flame going. Meanwhile at Haddix’s house his Father got up and he headed downstairs, but before he could walk down, at the corner of his eye he saw a note saying: “Dearest Father, I am sorry to say that I was never happy living in your household any longer. Thanks for everything!” Signed, your son Haddix
The Father felt like he had been so selfish to his son like that. So he and the butler went to search for him, at about 10:00p.m they found him frozen and shivering in his sleeping bag. In the morning he found himself laying in his bed with no trees around him and no bird chirping or anything. Then his Father knocked on his door, he came in and apologized for everything, he even gave him a big hug and said “I love you no matter what”! The rest of the day they played outside and ate lunch listening to Butler tell funny stories about his childhood. One year later Father got married to a nice young women and she was very nice to us. And everyone of us lived happily ever after!!!!!
