1: Sides fighting Allies- British empire, Union of Soviet Socialist Republicans, U.S Axis- Germany, Italy, Japan. Dates of the battle September 1 1939 until September 2 1945. How they got into the war was when they put an attack on Pearl Harbor!

2: Axis Germany- casualties 7,233,000 Italy- casualties 454,500 Japan- casualties 2,700,000 Allied Soviet Union- casualties 23,100,000 United States- casualties 418,500

4: Axis political leaders Adolf Hitler He was the ruler of Germany from 1933 to 1945. Hitler joined the Nazi Party in 1920 and became its leader in 1921. Benito Mussolini was prime minister of Italy ruled from October 31, 1922 to July 25, 1943. He aslo was one of the founders of Italian fascism, which created nationalism. Emperor Hirohito He was emperor of japan from from December 25, 1926 to January 7, 1989.

5: Axis military leaders Hermann Goring He was Hitlers designated successor and commander of Luftwaffe. Ugo Cavallero Military commander from September 20, 1880 to September 13, 1943. Shinichi Tanaka Lieutenant generl of Japan in March of 1937. Tanaka was appointed section chief of the Military Affairs Burea.u.

6: Allied political leaders Neville Chamberlain prime minister britain from march 1869 to November 9 1940. Franklin Rossevelt was the United States president from january 30 1882 until April 12 1945. Joseph Stalin general secretary of communist party in 1922.

7: Allied military leaders Bernard Montgomery field marsal from november 17 1887 until march 24 1976. Dwight David Eisenhower he was a general from 1890 until 1969. Georgi Zhukov he was the commander in chief of soviet union.

8: Propaganda in Japan They used animals such as; monkeys snakes and rats. The point was to get people to understand that the enemy was less than human, making them much easier to kill.They also used radio stations.

9: Population in Japan Japan waited until 1944 to mobilize their home population for total war. Lack of war economy left Japan without enough material for civilian poulation and its military. Production in the military made economy weak.

10: Weapons Type 14 - not used on the field, not used for long range. Arisaka - reliable, popular weapon in the east, ease of handling. Production was to limited to replace it. Type 96 - 6 clips were placed in the side mounted hopper, they had to be oiled after each round which created problems.

11: Submarines - They were used for surface warship groups and against emeny warships. Submarines were misused by Japan. Airplanes - The zero was the primary GNAF fighter for the world war, it was called the carrier based fighter armed with cannon had long range and climbed quickly. Tanks - Type 92 tankette designed for infantry support due to poor road conditions they were not very reliable.

12: Battle of Tsushima This battle was fought in the Straits of Tsushima, and was a victory for japan and a Russin lose. This was the last battle at sea for japan. the Commander of japan was Heihachiro Togo and the Commanders of Russia Zinovy Rozhestvensky. This was the largest and only major naval engagment. With this battle they found out that with big guns and longer range was a bigger advantage

13: Battle of Pearl Harbor It was december 7 1941 at pearl harbor at Hawaii. This attack resulted in United sates going in the war. The battle was a japan win there were many americans that died, about 2,000 americans that were killed in the attack. The president of the US at the time was Franklin Roosevelt and the commander of japan was Chuichi Nagumo. It was a surprise attack by japan. They sent out two submarines to pearl harbor . They also sent airplanes that put a shock on the Americans. While on practice that morning the soilders spotted a japanese airplane.

14: Battle of Okinawa This battle was fought between US and Britain aginst Japan. The Main objective was to get an island off of the mainland of japan. Japan lost a tremendous amount of soilders in this war when the US lost alot less. this was the bloodiest battle. 15: Treaties Japan sighed a peace treaty with the United States that ended the war. Treaty of Versailles ended the state of war between germany and allied. Treaty of San Francisco- This treaty was between Japan and the Allied powers. It was sighned by 49 nations on September eighth 1951.

16: Stratigies The plan of Japan was to have a quick victory over the US. America was it main concern and they wanted to take them out first. They were successful in there offensive plan but they were alittle off on there attack of Pearl Harbor. This was the result that they didn't want they wanted to have the war on there own grounds and it ended up not being there.
