FC: Bonnie Parker

A rebel is a person to defies authority or a generally excepted convention. One famous rebel was Bonnie Parker. She was born into a low income family, on October 1, 1910 in Rowena, Texas. She was the second of three children. Her father was a brick layer who died when she was only four. Her mother named, Emma, moved them to West Dallas, Texas shortly after the death of her father. high school Bonnie was known for being very smart and beautiful, even achieving honor roll, and excelling in creative writing. At age sixteen she disappointingly dropped out to marry her childhood love Roy Thornton. Even when Roy was in jail for murder she stayed true to him.

A year later she met Clyde Barrow, and her life changed forever. While being married to Roy she fell in love with Clyde. Bonnie showed her love by smuggling in a gun to Clyde while he was in jail. She constantly proclaimed her love to him by saying, “I love you.” Bonnie enjoyed being reassured, and would say to Clyde“ I don’t have no mama, no family either.” He would reassure her by saying, “ Hey I’m your family.” Clyde was caught a month later, and sent to Eastham Prison Farm where he stayed until his parole in 1932.

When he was released Bonnie went with Clyde to start their two year crime spree. Little did she know that this spree would end in a horrible tragedy. Among their crimes would be robberies of banks, grocery stores, and gas stations. One day Bonnie was asked what she did as a living, and she replied “ I am Miss Bonnie Parker. This is Clyde Barrow. We rob banks.” In order to get the outcome they wanted, many of their crime endeavors involved murder. Bonnie loved the thrill of crime. She was jailed for three months after trying to rob a hardware store. After being jailed she rejoined Clyde, and they began another round of crimes. These crimes took them to many places including Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Missouri. Even though they were one of the most wanted criminal minds, they managed to always escape danger.

Two days after Bonnie was released from jail for a second time, she and Clyde robbed a store in Hillsboro, Texas they killed the owner in the process. On October of 1932, Clyde brutally killed an owner of the grocery store they were robbing. The same year on Christmas day they murdered a man named Doyle Johnson. His murder was for the sole reason of stealing his car to get away.

Bonnie and Clyde were involved in many more murders and robberies. They were definitely rebels who killed for the thrill, and material goods, without thinking about the harm they did to innocent people. Once while robbing a bank Clyde shot the hat off a guards head who had pulled a gun on him. Later after the robbery Clyde proclaimed to Bonnie, “ Next time I’ll aim a little lower.” Their life of thrill would abruptly come to and end on May 23, 1934. While coming back from their hideout some Louisiana officers shot at their call, killing both of them. Bonnie was only twenty three years old when she died.
