S: A Girl and Her Skirt
BC: Special thanks to Grandma Shirley for making the long skirt love possible.
FC: A tale of true love. | A Girl and Her Skirt | By Stephanie Chambers
A book written by Mom for my Hannah girl. I love you.!
Once upon a time, there was a little girl with beautiful brown eyes and fine brown hair. Her name was Hannah Pearl Chambers. Hannah, because her oldest sister Kenzie had decreed it so.
And Pearl, because she was as precious as a deep-sea jewel to her parents.
You, my brown-eyed girl. | Hannah loved many things.
 She loved to be silly.
She loved to swing high, high into the air.
She loved her purple princess blanket, which spread perfectly on her bottom bunk.
She loved to cook, especially if it involved cracking eggs, her specialty.
She loved to be beautiful and fabulous.
She loved to sleep with Bear, who helped to scare away bad dreams.
And even though her parents told her not to, she loved to suck her thumb while she lay on her pillow.
You, my brown-eyed girl. | But most of all. . .
She loved her long, long skirt.
It reached to her shoes and was flowery and frilly and soft. She loved it inside. She loved it outside.
She loved it camping. She loved it hiking. She loved it at school. She loved it at play. (She even tried to wear it to bed.)
But one day Hannah put the lovely long skirt on, and it wasn't very long anymore.!
She was growing up, and the skirt was growing short!
Hannah was glad to be growing up, but she was sad to say goodbye to her long skirt.
She might have cried a little. But that was okay, because then she began to think of things that she would never grow out of. . .
First, there was her daddy. She couldn't outgrow him.
Next, there was her mommy-- and mommies are forever.
Sisters make the best friends. | And then there was Kenzie, through thick and thin, a big sister and best friend.
Not to forget Ellie-Bellie, a little sister with the same chocolate eyes, always watching her.
In fact, Hannah could think of about 10,000 reasons to be happy.
(And she could think of about 10,000 uses for a lovely, long skirt.)
So Hannah smiled, hugged her family and went to play.
 The End.
