S: Broughton Reunion 2010
BC: The End
FC: Oklahoma City, OK March 2010 | The Broughton Family Reunion
1: “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it...” | The house of which the psalmist sings is not merely physical - it is family. His biblical world view tells us that family is a divine edifice, impossible to assemble with mere human effort. Among the chiefest of God’s blessings, he “builds the house” through bonds of love that expand as he carefully chooses and adds every new member stone by stone, through adoption, birth, and marriage. People are sinners, so “the house” possesses many defects, but in amazing ways. God brings together unique individuals, disparate in many ways, so that he can teach them to confess and to forgive, to laugh and to lament, to love and to pray, and above all to glorify and enjoy him. Ultimately, God uses family, imperfect and sinful as it is here on earth, to draw us into that glorious heavenly family of whom he is Father. Those of us pictured in these pages have been blessed by God’s gracious building of a particular earthly family that we hope foreshadows the joys of that heavenly one. In God’s providence, he answered prayers to bring our family together for a few days of early springtime in Oklahoma to appreciate his goodness and to enjoy one another. It is hoped that the pictures scattered through these pages will recall happy memories of our time together and help us to keep one another in our thoughts and prayers. May God be pleased to continue building his eternal family through our earthly one!
