Parents | On November 9, 1921 in the deep woods of East Texas, Terrell, Texas to be exact was born a precious baby girl to the proud parents of Henry and Carrie Johnson.
One hot summer day her father, a carpenter decided that he had had enough of Texas. So he had his family to pack their bags and they headed south to Mississippi where they made it their home for awhile.
While living in Mississippi Willie was baptized in the church of God and Christ. Even though, her granddad was a Baptist preacher.
Willie's dad, being a traveling man, decided it was time to move again. They moved to Louisiana for a while and then back to Mississippi and finally back to Louisiana for their final destination as a family.

Willie was a very strong young woman; she worked hard caring for her family. She worked hard in the church and was a lead soloist. Her favorite song to lead was "In the Upper Room with Jesus". | Book of Songs
Willie designed and made all of her clothing as well as her children.
After years of caring for her family, she decided that it was time for something new. So she loaded up her brother-in-law's car and headed for Big Dallas not knowing what to expect with six kids and no job. But God provided.
Later she married Young Miles and one child, Patricia Kate completed the "dozen" six boys and six girls.

 Duce & Howard
Her life has now changed from Willie, Madear to Nanny.
She is now taking care of grandchildren. Some of the grandchildren say that she wasn't the nicest person. She was tough; you really had to watch your mouth and your back, because when she spoke everybody listened. Just like E.F. Hutton.
After she retired from DISD as a cook for 16 years she became a paid nanny. She was a paid nanny to Alicia, Ashley, Brittany, Bianca, Trey, Alex and Bryceson. Once again she retired...this time from babysitting. At least she thought.......
Then along came Carrington and upon Lagatha's persistent that Carrington was too young to be in a day care, Carrington became the last great-grand child to be in Nanny's care. Of course Duce said he did most of the babysitting.
Our most treasured family heirlooms are our sweet family memories. | Nanny's life can be compared to the woman in Proverbs 31. She rises early in the morning to feed her family. She labored in the fields to buyeth food for her family. She left early each morning to catch the bus to Boude Storey Middle School where she fed 500 children daily. She was a seamstress on any given day you would find her in the back room with cheerleaders and drill team uniforms spread out. She cared for the needed. Whatever she had left over from her meal, she warmed up, wrapped up and had Duce to deliver the food to the guys on the street. Also Nanny and Brenda started a catering business along with Connie.
She opens her mouth with wisdom by often saying, "stay in your zone or that ain't about nothing - keep living." She encourages. She believes in the family operating as a family. Those that were stronger had to look out for the not so strong. She assigned Lagatha to watch over Howard; Helen to watch over Naomi; Brenda to watch over Charles; Robert to watch over Tony and James; and Pat to watch over Duce. Nanny recognized the gifts in each of her children.
Nanny's children and grandchildren call her blessed. With all the traits that Nanny has, her love for the Lord is the greatest.
Nanny has reached four scores and ten. What more does God have in store for her. This is not the END. MORE TO COME...
