S: Gatlin Family 2011
We spent New Year's Eve with friends at Brett and Stacey Barbarick's in Peculiar, MO. The kids tried to sleep, but they were too excited. Tyler stayed up until 11:00 when we finally left.
Sunday, January 2, we went to watch the Chiefs play the Raiders. It was COLD, but it was a great memory of our last big event as a family of three before Baby Gatlin #2 arrived.
Tyler seemed more interested in eating popocorn and playing with his truck.
To celebrate Tyler's 3rd birthday, we ate at the "inside playground" (McDonald's) and went to the movies to see Yogi Bear in 3D!
The next day Megan Elizabeth Gatlin was born | January 8, 2011
Grandma and Grandpa Gatlin, Gammy, Aunt Laura, Cousin Ben, and Big Brother Tyler waited to hear the news...
Nobody believed Lee that it was a girl, so they had to check for themselves!
Proud Aunt Laura | Cousin Ben
Tyler was VERY curious about his new baby sister | Proud Grandmas
We brought our baby girl home January 9, right before a huge snow storm came in. Paub was there to meet us. | Time to Go Home!
 Tyler's 3rd Birthday Party
Tyler's 3rd birthday party was held at Airzone, an inflatable playground. Everyone from our families was able to come for the first time!
2011 was the 8th worst winter in Kansas City's history. We spent a little bit of time in the snow, and a LOT of time snuggled under blankets in our PJ's!
Laura hosted a "Meet Megan" shower on February 20. Everyone enjoyed meeting her, especially Great Grandma Van!
March was spent meeting the Barbaricks and Leperts at Union Station and the zoo, meeting cousins Brian and Amy for the Brookside St. Patrick's Day Parade, and taking Tyler rollerskating for the first time.
My family was able to come up to KC for many occasions this spring-for the Hammett Scrapbooking weekend, to go buy an Easter dress for Megan, to visit while Lee was in Minnesota for the annual meeting, and "just because"! | It's so good to be close to family!
Things to do in April 2011 - Put up a new trampoline - Run your first 5K
We celebrated Easter in Moberly and Garnett on two separate weekends. Tyler always has fun on the Gatlin farm!
During the first two months of the baseball season we went to several Royals games -with friends and with our little family of four. Tyler was more interested in food, and Megan didn't like the big crowds, but we still had some great memories!
Megan's first experience with solid food did not go well. Tyler tried to "help", and Megan was very adamant about not eating it! She felt the same about bottles too!
A day without laughter is a day wasted
Tyler participated in "Bitty Soccer" in May. He was one of the shortest on his team and spent most of the time running around the field or practicing with Daddy, but he finally started playing with his team during the last game. He always had a great time!
PLAY BALL! | Tyler and cousin Evan played for the Preschool Bombers in Raymore. Tyler's favorite part about baseball was hitting.
We tried to beat the heat of the summer by going to "spraygrounds", the local pool, and Sun-N-Fun in Moberly. Megan usually stayed in her stroller, but Tyler had a BLAST!
The Mom's Club went to tour the Parkville Fire Station one day in June. The kids had a great time riding in the drivers seat, looking all over the fire engine, and ringing the bell. Our friendly tour guide even put on his suit and climbed the ladder so the kids could see what a fireman does.
In July, Lee and Tyler went on "walk about" to go look at the local flood damage
Our summer days were spent visiting family in Moberly, entertaining friends on the Plaza, going to Science City, swim lessons, watching baseball, learning to fish, and spending time at home together.
