FC: Happy 60th Birthday, Dad! January 11, 2012
3: When I think of my little brother Bill, I think of someone who has been there for me my entire life. Although our early years were filled with cries from me to Mom that “Bill hit me”, and by the time I was 2 yrs old and he was 1 we were the same size, and from then on out he was always bigger than me. Bill, the practical jokester spent a good deal of our childhood torturing me and loving every minute of it. This included leaving me on a little island for hours during one of our camping trips with Dad, putting salamanders under my bedroom door, constant dunking at the pool, tying me up with Dad’s good ties, sitting on me, etc. I remember Mom pacing by my bed, looking out the back window waiting for Bill to come home, late as usual; worrying he was in some sort of accident, while he was just out having a good old time partying with his friends. But when things got tough Bill was (and still is) always there to be the rock, the quiet protector, the one who can always make you laugh, the one you can always count on, the big teddy bear with the big heart. He has a lot of “Beans” in him, and I don’t mean the dog, as we all know he is a wonderful father and now grandfather. I know our Mom and Dad were very proud of the man that Bill has become, and so are his sisters and brothers, even though as children we had our doubts.
