FC: May - June 2011
We tried to potty train Sterling in early May, after we finished school, but gave up when I miscarried the new baby. We should have trained her when she was excited about it back in March. We missed that boat! However, it'll happen eventually!
The kids show off their Walk for Life shirts and Jacob finishes both his etchings from Aunt Debbie Satern. There was a lot of detail work in both of those. Great job!
Grandma Cheri surprised the kids with an Easter package full of jelly beans and this chocolate basket filled with chocolates. It was finally time to enjoy it. Love all those little hands!
Our girl of a million faces. She hurt her foot jumping and wanted it wrapped like the big kids. | We must use a lot of expressions around here because she has to be learning it somewhere.
I'm not sure why she tried to climb into the milk bottle cooler, but she is full of surprises. | She loves to go wobbly-wobbly on the big ball. She lounges on the end of the couch like a cat.
Boys will be boys. Jacob made an awesome Jengo Fett battle band. Isaac was our Indian prince.
Our girls! Mykenzie still loves to dress her and Sterling to match. Her first cake for profit. Awesome electric lego guitar.
What fun kids we're blessed with. Mykenzie and Jacob worked as a team on their picture of Anakin as a gift for a friend. Isaac gave Sterling basket rides and helped her tuck in all her little friends. Isaac tried to ride Lightning to infinity and beyond and Sterling tried to fill Noah's shoes.
It's spring and everything is growing: kids, chickens, gardens. It's a good thing.
Fun days of early summer... sun dresses, sprinklers, motorcycles, and treats
 Happy Memorial Day
Daddy happened to have the Monday of his birthday off, which was also Memorial Day, so we took the family to the parade in Florence. It wasn't a big one, but it was Noah, Isaac, and Sterling's first parade. We all had a great time, the kids brought home pounds of candy, and it was early enough that it didn't get too, too hot. Plenty of time to rest up before Daddy's birthday dinner, gifts, and pie. Mykenzie dressed Sterling in the dress and bonnet that Aunt Sheila had made for her years ago.
Happy 37th Birthday, Daddy | Daddy got lots of wonderful gifts from his children including new screw-drivers, strawberry Whoppers, a grill cleaning brush, malt powder, homemade root beer and more. Mommy made him a blueberry pie and it totally set up and didn't run at all. We had to take pictures of the miracle.
Sterling keeps us on our toes. She can be a total caretaker, the one to bring others ice packs and give hugs for comfort. Here she practices taking care of one of her babies. Or she can be totally goofy and use the baby carrier for a large bottom pillow. She can be a stinker at the table and not eat or sometimes she'll lick her plate clean. She loves to be a big girl and be a real helper. She's really great at helping with our pasta maker and she really enjoys it. It's such a joy to watch her grow and get to know her.
Jacob is great with the chickens. He's never afraid, even though we got the mean ones accidentally, and he's always gentle.
Just some life at home pix. Mykenzie got to attend a few 4H classes this summer and in one of them she did basket weaving. The kids watched the new Yogi Bear movie and loved it. Isaac was inspired to put on his bear pjs with a hat and tie. Mykenzie got Sterling a birthday balloon and drew her on the back patio. Sterling loves to lounge. The background photo is our creek.
Some pictures of our home and our garden. We know what it looks like, but if God ever moves us somewhere else, it will be nice to look back and remember.
It doesn't seem possible for our baby girl to be 2 years old already. I'm so thankful for photos so we can look back and remember and see her growth and celebrate who God is growing her into. Her siblings, some days, see her as a princess (here she's Queen Elizabeth). | Mommy made Sterling a butterfly and 2 and she seemed very happy with them. We'd done butterflies for Mykenzie's 2nd birthday, too.
Sterling was thrilled that Mommy made homemade pizza for her birthday dinner. She didn't need any help opening her presents this year. It was so fun to watch her have such fun. The kids pose in their new butterfly nets.
The birthday girl had a great\time trying out her new big girl swing and playing in the sandbox with Isaac. What a joy to watch her thoroughly enjoy a beautiful summer evening - Kentucky style - barefoot in a long flowy dress.
God, we are blessed beyond what we deserve. Thank you for learning to do handstands and learning to help in the kitchen. Thank you for brothers and sisters that truly love one another. Thank you for amazing GeoTracks layouts. Thank you that we have a house full of love and laughter.
While Mommy used the house to teach a class on Maidenhood for young ladies (including Mykenzie) and their moms, Daddy had the other 4 kids for the whole day. He planned a great day of fun starting up in Dayton, OH at the National Museum of the US Air Force with a picnic lunch, then ice cream, then the park. They had an amazing day. Our family is so blessed to have a Daddy who thoroughly enjoys a day alone with his children
Mykenzie made a chain so the boys could keep track of the days until she came back. | Jacob was a huge help while Grandma and Mykenzie were in Oregon. He even offered to take Mykenzie's place in bed with Sterling. | Sterling had to have a hat and sunglasses for the zoo. She placed her sunglasses herself. | Leah and Christina stayed the night and went with us to the zoo. It was great to have the help and company. | After coming out of the mister, I got some close ups of the water droplets on Noah.
We were all thrilled that Mykenzie got to have a grand adventure and couldn't wait to see her pictures and hear her stories, but we celebrated her coming home and being together as a family again.
