FC: Memoirs of a Family by Ryan Ralph M. Nicolas I - SDS

Chapter 1 Background Information of my Family | My family was [founded] on the 8th of July, 1993, when my parents, Susanne B. Malinao-Nicolas and Ricardo S. Nicolas, Jr were married. | On the 11th of March, 1994, my sister, Katrina M. Nicolas, was born. I followed her, being born on the 16th of June, 1996. And lastly, my younger sister, Alexis Rianne M. Nicolas was born on the 31st of August, 1999.

My mother's name is Susanne B. Malinao-Nicolas. She was born in Pastrana, Leyte on the 2nd day of January, 1971. Her parents are Feliza C. Barraza and Rolando Malinao. She was supposedly born in Cebu but when her parents visited her | mother's parents, she unexpectedly entered this world. Thus, she was born there... Technically, she has two siblings, but those two died. Their supposed to be youngest sibling was a baby boy, but died shortly after birth. His older brother on the other hand, almost got polio while he was till a baby. Luckily it did not continue, but it left him with partial disability. One of his legs is smaller than the other.

She once dreamt of being a business lawyer, but the demise of her mother made it impossible for her to continue taking law. When she finished her B.S. Comerce Accounting Major and was preparing for the licensure examinations, she met my father, and this caused for her to fail the licensure exams. | Today, she is a full-time housewife and a mother to three little pigs, as we would joke around...

My father is Ricardo S. Nicolas, Jr. He was born somewhere in Manila. His parents are Luz P. Santiago-Nicolas and Ricardo C. Nicolas, Sr. He has three sisters and one brother. His dream was really to become a lawyer, but because of financial hardships of the family, he and his younger brother were forced to take maritime for college.

Today, he is a father of three children, of which two are daughters and the other is a son. | While still studying, his father was stabbed. His father's life could still have been saved, if only they didn't suffer from financial hardships. After the death of his father, he stood as the "padre de pamilya" of their family and all the responsibilities of the father was passed onto him.

My sister's name is Katrina M. Nicolas. She was born on March 11, 1994, in the University of Sto. Tomas, Manila | She is currently planning to take LAw fopr her college in San Beda College, Mendiola. | She had her studies from prep to Grade Six in Sp;ringfield School of Novaliches and transferred to Colegio de SAn Lorenzo when she was a First Year High School.

My younger sister's name is Alexis Rainne M. Nicolas. She was born on August 31, 1999 in Manila. We noted that during her first few years, she had trouble with ability development. Luckily, she was able to cope up with the rest of the children who were born in the same year she was born.

During Christmas seasons, everyone in the family participates in the Christmas Tree making activity. | We all enjoy this activity, especially because it takes some time and effort to be able to finish building the tree.

When Katrina was just a little kid, she was very playful and naughty and often made her lola who was taking care of her worry. | She was the reason why her family's house became surrounded with may "harang" which was recommended to her father by her grandmother to prevent her from being able to escape. While playing in the subdivision playground, she was hit by a swing by her eye which made that part bleed and made her mom so worried.

When she was still a baby, there was an incident that it is only her great grand mother that was with her. | When grandma checked her, she saw something which seemed to be like a chocolate. She couldn't recognize it because of poor eyesight. She even smelled it. Suddenly, the baby threw one at her face. She then realized that those were poop! Yuck! Whenever this story comes in family conversations, everyone would laugh like crazy!

There is a scar on his chin which he got when he fell on the stairs. He also actually experienced rolling over the stairs, but luckily, he didn't get any injury from the incident. | Ryan, throughout his childhood years, was known for being the one who is clean and most disciplined. Whenever he is told to stay in one place, he would do so. But there were times that mischievousness was noted. He once shaved his arm using his father's. He often ran on the stairs which made him fall for a few times.

He also experienced being bitten by a dog, which happened shortly after Alexis, his younger sister, was bitten by the same dog. It happened when he was trying to get the plastic that the dog was eating. He got three shots of anti-rabies vaccine, but stopped when his family found out that the dog who bit them has no rabies.

Alexis was notedly a "slow learner" who learned to walk when she was already at the age of 5 and didn't know how to speak properly until the age of 6. | She was one of the oldest (or if not, the oldest) in the class when she started going to school. It was because her parents were forced to delay her schooling knowing that she has a difficulty in speech. But she was allowed by the school to skip one level for her to ba able to adjust with the kids who are of the same age as her.

In conclusion, the Nicolas family is a simple and perfectly happy family. May the family's joy last forever and ever, 'til death do them part... Amen. Amen. =)
