3: The Patterson Family Crib Mom & Dad married December 24, 1942, in Anniston, Alabama. Dad was in the Army, and eventually they were living in New York City. February 24, 1944 Sandra Lee was born. As the apartment was small, Mom bought a small crib to start with until there was room for a full sized baby bed. Sandy slept in it, and in September, 1946, when Susan Marie was born, she did also. When the family grew to include Michael Ray, September 1950, he also used the "little crib". It was used for the girl's dolls, and some of the cousins used it, but eventually it found it's way back home. When Mom & Dad's first grandchild, Richard Daniel, was born, Dad refinished the crib for him to use, and eventually, all of their grandchildren slept in it. Now, the third generation of the family has also each had a turn in the family crib. We are putting together this record of all the babies who have started out in our little crib in hopes that the next generations of babies will also begin their lives resting in this special family heirloom. It seems to be a great way for a new life to begin, as each person who has had a turn in the crib has grown to be a loving, successful person, who brings joy to the family. Traditionally, the crib remains with the last family who has used it, until a new baby is born. My hope is that this book will also remain with the crib, to be passed down to the next generation. Susie
