S: Sage's 11th Birthday
FC: Sage's 11th Birthday
For Sage's 11th birthday, she and some of her closest friends went horseback riding. We went to High Country Stables, and rode horses. Afterwards, we had cake and ice cream, and opened presents. Everyone had a great time!
First, everyone met the horses. The kids, and any grown-ups who wanted to as well, were going to get to ride Midnight and Cody. Midnight is the one with the braids, and Cody has the white stripe on his face.. Sage is petting Midnight after his bridle was changed for the kids to ride him. We also got to meet some of the other residents of the farm, including some of the other horses, the rather large (and somewhat ill-tempered) pig, the dog, the chickens, the resident bunny, and the many ducks and geese. There were quite a lot of animals to play with or pet.
Ben is meeting one of the horses at the farm., while some other hoses are enjoying a morning snack of fresh hay.
Miami, the owner of the stable, leads Midnight up to the pen, where the kids are eagerly waiting.
Kesi on Cody (left), Sage on Midnight (right), and Taylor on Midnight (below).
Everyone listened intently as Miami talked to them about riding safety, how to mount the horses, and told them a little bit about Midnight and Cody. Clearly, preteens can, in fact, pay attention when they want. Ben on Cody (above left), Jules on Midnight (above right), and Chase on Cody (left).
We kept the party small so everyone would have plenty of time to ride the horses. Everyone got to ride the horses a lot, even some of the adults. The kids got better with each lap around the pen.
Sage had a fantastic time. She got to ride Midnight and Cody a lot. Cody was her favorite, though.
Miami spent extra time with Sage, really teaching her how to ride, instead of just being lead around on the horse. By the end she could maneuver Cody around the pen, and even between the cones, herself!
After everyone had ridden the horses for an hour, it was time to take them back to the barn. Jules and Sage were excited to get to ride them back down the hill to the barn. Sage rode Cody, of course..
After being outside riding horses, it was nice to come inside for cake and ice cream. Sage made a wish, and blew out the candles on her horse-themed cake.
After the cake and ice cream, it was time to open presents. There were Angry Birds, locker decorations, a new stuffed leopard, Godiva chocolates, Shrinky-Dinks, a Moon-In-My-Room, lots of great cards, and more. There was even a brand new horse charm for her charm bracelet, so she'd always have something to remember her 11th birthday party.
