FC: Spring Break trip to San Diego 2010
For Spring Break we made a last minute trip to San Diego to go to Sea World, the beach and old town San Diego. We left on Monday and came back to Mesa on Friday. The weather was beautiful the whole week. We had our crazy moments - like Diana getting a bug in her eye while walking back to the hotel from Denny's; our wet moments - like getting drenched on the Rapids ride; and our sad moments - like Minnie getting stung by a bee at Balboa Park. But we survived even a flat tire on the way home in the middle of nowhere. We enjoyed petting & feeding the dolphins in Sea World, and looking for shells in the ocean. Jazz even found an intact Sand Dollar. We tried to get wet while watching the Shamu show, but even though we had great seats right up front we didn't get very wet. Through everything we had a great time.
When we got to San Diego we checked into our hotel and headed for the beach. The water was freezing, but all the kids got soaked anyway. They had fun looking for shells and jumping the waves.
We played until the sun went down and headed cold and wet back to our hotel
Our day at Sea World started with a stop at the Manta Rays
Food Break! | There was lots to do - | Trip to the Arctic | Things to touch - | Journey to Atlantis | Lots of exhibits to look at
Our first stop on Wednesday morning was the Mormon Battalion Historic Site. It was wonderful. The audio-visual way they told the story was very interesting. Anthony even got to dress the part of a Battalion member,
After a tour of the inside we went outside and everyone got to try their hand at panning for gold. We didn't leave any richer in gold, but richer in an understanding of our ancestors that served in the Mormon battalion
next we went to Old Town San Diego, where we went to school. We were tardy, and Jason and Mom got into trouble with the schoolteacher. | We walked around looking at old buildings and exploring what san diego looked like many years ago.
Next stop - Cabrillo national park
After walking through the old lighthouse, everyone had fun looking in the tide pools. The ocean was beautiful and we stayed until the park closed. !
Thursday - Back to Sea World
We said good-bye to Sea World.
After Sea World on Thursday we headed to Balboa Park to walk around and look at the gardens and architecture. | We saw a lot of beautiful buildings and plants, even a lily pad pond.
The coolest thing was a tree you could climb into the trunk of. Is it big enough for everyone??? | As they kept climbing in we discovered that it was big enough for everyone to sit inside of.
 What a family tree
