S: The Camp 1939-2011

FC: The "Camp" | Clark's Point, Henderson, NY Enjoyed by 5 Generations 1939-2011

1: Henry E. Donaldson 1875-1966 He was "Pop" or "Poppy" to we kids and the person responsible for creating the "Camp". In 1938 he bought a lot at Clark's Point near Henderson, NY and in 1939 had the“Camp” built by a local contractor. His life long passion was fishing and was the focus of Donaldson family vacations during his working years. | Upon his retirement from the telephone company and the untimely death of his wife Beatrice (Bess) of cancer in 1938 the "Camp" provided him an opportunity to pursue his fishing hobby all summer. It was also weekend and vacation getaways for his children: Elizabeth Allen, Barbara Brandt, William Donaldson and their families. It was a place where relatives and friends would congregate to celebrate his July birthday and other outings. During the war years his preteen and teenage grandchildren Suzanne (Nan) Allen and Dave Allen stayed with him in the summer. He remained quite active until the mid 1950s when he no longer stayed alone, but accompanied family for weekend and week outings until his death in 1966. The "Camp" passed on to Barbara and Norman Brandt. In 1991 to Donald Brandt and Diane Brandt Weissenberg, and in 2004 Donald acquired Diane's interest in the "Camp".
