8: St. Nick's Day 2011 Such fun leaving out our shoes for St. Nick in the first part of Advent as we wait, wait, wait for our Lord! "Santa" "Klaus" = the saint who points us to the birth of our Lord and helps us to prepare our hearts! St. Nick, pray for us!

18: we got the call that Grandma Jane was sick enough to warrant us driving in to see her one last time. over the course of the next 36 hours we spent nearly all of them at the hospital with family. the kids were so well-behaved, it was such a blessing for us to all be together with Grandma Jane in those final days.
19: 15. the last photo we have of Granny Jane before she passed away. the image of Gramps holding her beautiful hand with her wedding ring glimmering in the dimly lit room is etched in my memory forever, but I wanted to be sure to preserve that memory for those who loved her to revisit time and again. We spent about 13 hours in the hospital this day with her, her last day here on earth. What a gift that was for all of us. We laughed and cried, prayed and sang, told stories and sat in reverent silence. Grandma Jane passed from this earth to Eternity with her husband and children surrounding her at 3:35 am the next morning.
23: 19. community gathering with the Archbishop!
24: The day of Granny Jane's funeral was a difficult one, sprinkled with little moments of joy: Emma feeding Baby Gabriella at the funeral luncheon; kids sharing a sweet moment in the hallway of the hotel, Timmy proudly wearing the rose from her casket as a lapel pin, and Mama getting her new wedding ring from Daddy. Ah, the Circle of Life.

29: 24. Christmas Eve morning spent with the Chiks, and the afternoon spent with the Wientges. This year was hard with Granny Jane's passing just the week before. It was also made hard by the fact that many of us were battling a stomach bug, in fact, the night before I had been in the hospital all night with our sweet Emma who suffered greatly from dehydration and some internal bleeding due to the illness. We were grateful to have her healthy enough to be celebrate with us!
30: TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS AND ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING, NOT EVEN A MOUSE...
32: opening presents on Christmas morning. Timmy and Mama are battling the stomach bug so we weren't as chipper as we could have been.
