BC: Making Memories by Kathleen
FC: Being together is the best gift of all
2011 started off with a winter storm that left the Smoky Mountains covered with several feet of snow. The kids had never seen snow before, so we packed our bags for a Tennessee family vacation. We wanted this to be a trip the kids would talk about as adults, saying "Remember when Mom & Dad took us to see snow....."
We stayed in Roni's mountain view home.
 Winter Memories
The kids first exposure to snow.
 Sunrise from our porch
We stopped at the parks information center, and there was more snow. | Everyone got into the act.
We made snow angels, had snowball fights and Nicholas even nailed the camera.
ALL BUNDLED UP | We made our way up the mountain and found a beautiful place to stop. Climbing the hill for these pictures was a challenge for the kids. We had a lot of laughs.
 Winter Memories
Family Photo taken at the top of Newfound Gap Elevation: 5046 ft.
Michael was the only child who would get out of the car. The other two complained their feet were too cold.
Pete and Michael build a snowman
Michael dumped an armload of snow on Pete's face while he was lying there. As you can see, Pete then tackled Michael in the snow, and then the snow wrestling began.
We found the perfect hill for sledding
 Beautiful winter scenery
 Nicholas doing his "Snow Dance"
ALL BUNDLED UP | We waited in line for an hour and half for snow tubing tickets. Then had a 5 hour wait to actually tube.
 And they are still smiling!
So we filled the time with the scenic chair lift.
Finally! It was our turn to snow tube.
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
