3: A-ACL-Festival-Varies ACL started in 1974 and had its first fest in 2003. It recently celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2010. Our own Willy Nelson performed in ACL in 1974. ACL has been here for a long time and has entertained Texas as always.
4: Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 4, 1981. By the age of twenty-one, she had reached that goal, becoming world-famous not just in her chosen field of singing but also as an actress. | B-Beyoncé- Pop- Solo Artist
5: C-Creedence Clear Water Rival - Band Rock and Roll | Creedence Clearwater Rival had great years throughout 1968-1972. They were one of the few teen bands back then but that didn't mean they weren't the best. The band was formed in El Cerrito, Califonia and was one of the best rock and roll bands.
6: D-The Doors - Band-Rock | The Doors, were one of the most influential and controversial rock bands of the 1960's. They were formed in Los Angeles California. The Doors never added a bass player. Their sound was dominated by Manzarek's electric organand Morrison's deep, sonorous voice, with which he sang and intoned his highly poetic lyrics.
7: E-The Eyes of Texas-Song- Western The Eyes of Texas is the official Alma Mater of UT. It was written in 1903 by John Sinclair because he was asked to do a song for the Cowboy Minstrel Show. Since he had little time to write the song, he decided to use a famous saying by Colonel Prather. His saying was " The eyes of Texas are upon you".
8: F- Pecan Street Festival - Traditional-Festival The pecan street festival hosts music twice a year. With over 300 artists, 3 stages of live music, and large amounts of ethnic foods, the pecan festival has brought joy to Texas. It has been a tradition for 33 years and will go on for a long time.
9: G-Selena Gomez-Pop-Solo Artist Selena Gomez is not only a great singer, but also a great at doing charity. She was the youngest ambassador for the UNICEF. She has preformed in Dallas, Texas and was born in July 22, 1992. She is also from Mexican and Italian decent and has four dogs.
10: H-Harmony strings-Classical-Band Harmony Strings is known for doing weddings. They have a wonderful selection of classical music and are from Houston, Texas. They have played in AD Bruce Chapel on University of Houston campus and have received very high ratings. They also won the 2011 Brides choice awards and the 2011 best wedding pick.
11: What I like About Texas - Song-Country What I like About Texas was on Gary P. Nunn's greatest hits album. On May 16 2011, Coach Kee played this song to all of his classes. Turns out the song was filled with places that we had learned about earlier this year. This song is dedicated to the wonderful places in Texas. I heard stuff about San Antonio and Bluebonnet feilds. You ask me what I like about Texas It's the big timber round. | "...Nacadoches It's driving El Camino Real into San Antone It's the Riverwalk in Mi Tierra It's stories of the Menger Hotel and the Alamo!..."
12: G-Galveston Island -Jazz/Blues Festival The Galveston Island jazz festival is a non profit corporation organized to educate, create greater awareness by the public and to encourage support for jazz.It is created to emphasize the richness of jazz and increase the number of persons who appreciate jazz music.
13: K_Copa Kings-Jazz-Band | The Copa Kings were formed in Austin, Texas, to make new life into some of the great jazz standards of the 1930s, 40s and 50s. With great music, the band brings a unique passion to the jazz music of this period.Led by lead singer Billy Murphy and pianist Rob Greenfield, this band has played with locally and nationally known acts.Including The Atlantics, The Jazz Pharaohs, Merchants of Venus, The Monster Big Band, the Magnificent 7 and The Blackbird Trio.

15: M-A Motzart Fest- Festival Classical | A. Mozart Fest was founded in 1991 by Mary Robbins to commemorate the Mozart Bicentennial year. The organization strives to bring the music of Mozart and of later composers he inspired to the community through quality performances.

18: P-Goode's Armadillo Palace-Country-Venue | Tuesdays - Saturdays bands play Country music Diffrent types of mucians come to play at Goode's Armadillo Palace.Goode's Armadillo Palace hosts live Texas music several days a week. It serves a lot of Texas comfort food and is available for parties of just about every size.No other place captures the spirit of Texas music the way the Armadillo Palace does.
19: Q-Selena Quintanilla Perez-Tejano-Solo Artist | Selena was born to Mexican American parents on April 16,1971 in Lake Jackson Texas. She was the youngest child of Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Marcella Ofelia Samora. She joined her brother Abraham who was eight and her sister Suzette who was four. At the time of her tragic murder, Selena was known as “The Queen of Tejano”. ...be kind, smile and put a smile on their face. -Selena Perez
20: R-Rusty Wier-Country Rock-Solo artist | Rusty Wier Tribute May 3, 1944 - October 9, 2009 Rusty Wier told us early on that he didn’t want to lay his guitar down. And we most certainly didn’t want to let him. We watched and prayed and prayed some more these past two years as he fought the demon cancer with that same sense of determination and commitment he brought to entertaining every time those big ol’ boots of his hit the stage
21: BW Stevenson graduated from high school in Dallas, and after a few years went to NTSU in Denton to study at its highly-acclaimed school of music. He wasn't happy in school, so he left without finishing the program. Not too long afterwards, the "cosmic cowboy" era was coming into full flower in Texas. 22: T-Texas our Texas-Country-Song | "Texas, Our Texas," the official state song of Texas. It was adopted by the Legislature in 1929 after being selected in a state-wide competition. The song was composed by William J. Marsh of Fort Worth. The lyrics were written by Marsh and Gladys Yoakum Wright.
23: U-Uncle Walt's Band-Americana-Band | Uncle Walt's Band broke up a few times before it took. They split up soon after making their first album, but re-united when the record proved to be popular. After about a year in Nashville, the group moved back to Austin in 1978. There have been reunions, most notably as the backup singing group on "Once Is Enough" on the 1989 Grammy winning "Lyle Lovett and His Large Band" album.

His songs inspired a new generation of songwriters including Nanci Griffith.Whether he was singing a quiet, introspective country-folk song or a driving, hungry blues, Van Zandt's songs and melodies were filled with the kind of inspiration and beauty that you can't find anywhere else. His music came straight from his soul by way of a kind heart, an honest mind, and a keen ear for the gentle blend of words and melody.
25: W-The Warehouze-Varies-Music Venue | The Warehouze is the newest teen club to hit the scenes of El Paso.It is a huge, two-level building that holds about 1,000 people.It has a stage, an awesome PA/DJ system, and some really cool lights! On Fridays,it has "Pura Locura" nights. On these days they have DJ's from local radio stations spinning the best hip-hop and dance music (on both levels of the club!). Saturdays are reserved for LocoRoc Shows which showcases at least 8 local bands every time.
26: X-Under the X in Texas-Song -Americana | "...I wish I was sittin' right under the X in Texas Right in the heart of where my heart must be But whenever I roam I never feel at home cept in Texas Under the X in Texas is the only place for me..." This song was written by Johnny Gimble. It states his feelings about Texas and where he feels that he should be.
27: Y-Yellow Rose of Texas-song- | There's a yellow rose in Texas, That I am going to see, Nobody else could miss her, Not half as much as me. She cried so when I left her It like to broke my heart, And if I ever find her, We nevermore will part. | When this song first came out it was #47 on itunes. It is now #103on the itunes chart.
28: Z-La Zona Rosa-Festival | Austin’s most eclectic venue hosts a plethora of local and national acts on its two stages. Expect to find everything from rock and singer/songwriters, Latin and world music to blues and jazz on most nights of the week. La Zona Rosa offers small, intimate performances on our club side and larger premier acts on the larger stage of the venue. The superior sound and lighting and comfortable atmosphere make La Zona Rosa a truly exceptional concert. Recent events include: Joss Stone, Yeasayer, Edward Sharpe, Gavin DeGraw and Patti Smith.
