 High School Years
This year is the year my Annie-Wannie turns 40, so an ode to her I’ll write telling a bit of her glory. Our story began fifteen years ago, when she moved to Orlando our friendship began to flow. | Our hearts first met when I shared of my goal, to dress my daughter well with that she could roll. She was quiet and reserved but moved toward me still, coming over on wives’ days the soil we did till... Preparing the earth of our very young hearts, to connect in a way that nothing can part. You were tender and loving and crazy for our kids, giving them ice cream before solids were a bid! Then you came over to the other side of the tracks, to fructose and juicing and all that raw...stuff (hah).
Then over to Florence where movie stars took our pics, spoiled with your presence on that dreamy trip. Our mutual taste for food and design, and color and creating and style divine.... bring pizazz to our friendship and hours of yacking, while priming and painting Indigo Girls our fab backing. I can’t talk of Anne without mentioning BraveHearts, you’re an original afterall and transformed since the start. From a woman with beauty so locked up inside, filled with mercy and life but wanting to hide. | To a woman whose beauty cannot be contained, you ooze with His glory His love stunningly remains. You speak into me and birth life with your words, and show me your tears from your heart they emerge. You’re my sister, my friend my confiding confidante, my cheerleader, ezer no other I’d want... To journey beside me through all of life’s swings, hand-in-hand with the Trinity no greater gift could He bring. I love you with all my heart, Your Lisa
Anne, It has been a thrill and a privilege to know you over the past 15 years. I am often surprised and amazed by your creativity (the creative process still feels so magical to me, and I love it when I see and experience it in you), and I both respect, and I am encouraged by your courage and strength. The way you see through your creative lens is inspiring to me, and I see it bubble up through your home, through the family’s style of dress or the many things you create. I enjoy and admire it. I love how you move into spaces that most avoid. You are brave and don’t settle for what is, but you move forward not to dominate, but rather to influence softly and bring beauty and dimension to places that are plain or rough, much like you transform a piece of stretched canvass into something with meaning, texture, color and beauty. I love how you don’t settle for the ordinary or the status quo. Though I enjoy these qualities about you, I suppose what I most enjoy is that you are my friend. I love your friendship you have with my Lisa and Madison, Keegan and Cole. You are a part of our lives and we love you. It is easy to celebrate you as you mark another year of earthly life. I am glad that we now shares these years together. You make life here more beautiful, and the life after we are promised even more attractive. Love, Dennis Brockman
Anne | You are a beautiful gift to all who get to experience your heart. I know no one who has a bigger heart for others. You have taught me how to love lavishly and enjoy life fully. You have been a big part in re-writing my story and I am so grateful.
 I love you, Justine
"When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality." Romans 12:13 Anne, this verse makes me think of you. You truly are one of the most kindhearted people I have ever met. You reflect Christ in your character, actions and love for others. Happy Birthday to a very precious and special young woman. Love, Greg Kriefall
Anne, thank you for so generously sharing your heart, vision, and family with me and so many others. “The hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you." Love, David McGaw
Happy 40th Birthday, Anne! When we think of you and your unique gifts to the Body of Christ, we rejoice in how your beautiful heart, full of love for everyone—your family, your friends, even wounded girls in India and Cambodia—so wonderfully reflects the expansive heart of our Lord Jesus. In the many years that you have faithfully walked with Him, you have allowed Jesus to equip you and empower you, that He might love your world well through your life. We are so grateful to be witnesses and recipients of such lavish love. You have taught your children to be open-hearted, as well; they, too, teach us much about Jesus’ deep affection for each of us. Thank you for giving your heart to the Lord. You are serving Him very well! May your birthday bring you lots of joy! Love, Jenn & Doc Domeck (& Shay-Shay)
Dear sweet Anne, The more I learn about you, the more I am inspired. You speak words of truth with a wisdom and vulnerability that comes from a heart passionate about pursuing God and all that He is. You show love to people in such tender ways that they feel completely cared for and encouraged. I am eager to continue our friendship and learn more about who you are and what God wants to do through you. Oh, and your laugh makes my heart very happy. :) Happy 40th, my friend. I am excited to see and experience what God wants to do with and through you for the next 40. Love, Jenn

Dear Anne, I'm so glad to have the opportunity to share with you how many ways you have impacted my life. I have appreciated the fact that year after year with one, two and then three kids you visited me each spring training. You were willing to pursue friendship. And even more you loved my family not just the baseball. I love that you have always allowed your creativity to spill out on others. I have watched you grow, confront change and stand firm on your beliefs. Thank you for believing in me and being willing to support us going to campuses and sharing. Lately I have again been drawn in by your invitation to live deeper with Jesus and to care for women all over the world. I am so appreciative that you have had the courage to leave safety and your comfort zone to rescue and love girls who are thrown aside and mistreated. Thank you for being you and inspiring others. I can not wait to witness what adventure God will take you on. And I can't wait to meet your sweet boys. NOW go totally eat something bad with lots of gluten and chemicals in it for me for your 40th Birthday. Happy Birthday Sweet Girl. Love ya, Kym
Dearest Anne, Happy Birthday, sweet friend! I am so thankful that the Lord brought our lives together. My time with you at Bravehearts was one marked with incredible growth and love. Your presence there was so welcoming and genuine - so refreshing for me to experience. When you speak, people listen, because you have something important to say. You are filled with compassion and grace. I remember when various conflicts would come up, you would have this unwavering faith the Lord's goodness and sovereignty. Whenever I'm at the beach, I recall the story you told of your time with the Lord there, when the dolphins were so close to you. Makes me smile every time I think if it. You have a real, growing, intimate relationship with Jesus that inspires me and touches my heart. Thank you for opening yourself up and letting me into your life. I am changed because of you. Much love to you on this day as you celebrate all that the Lord has done and continues to do in your life. Love, Kristen Mikesell

Dear Anne, Wow, our paths crossed in the Fall of ’99 and my life was never quite the same. As a single guy I remember you being one of coolest ladies I had met. Your place in the history of my life has been significant. From my first date with Keva, Body for Life, our wedding, all the time you spent with Keva/Bravehearts, the birthing and parenting advice and empathy...sharing the joys of parenthood. When I reflect back on those times I smile and tear up remembering how rich they were. They were rich because God used your presence to share grace and love when I needed it most. May God continue to richly bless you. Love, Rob II

Anne, You have been a significant gift from God for our whole family and a wonderful friend. When you joined us in 1995 for our seven months in Hungary, you were the world greatest nanny! | You loved us well and helped make our time in Hungary both productive and enjoyable. Our kids adored you so much that when God relocated us to Orlando in 1997, they were okay with it “because Anne is there”. Then to spend the summer (2004) in Florence together was icing on the cake!
It was so fun for Anna to take care of your children. Do you suppose someday your girls will get to care of Anna or Sarah’s? Who knows with staff life! Thanks so much for all the other ways you have shown love to us —meals together, your great hospitality, photographing Sarah & Kirk’s wedding, helping make Anna & Dan’s wedding so special and beautiful. You are a treasured friend! We love you, The Davys
Cole's musings.. "Oh she's awesome! She's funny. And she's a great artist. And she's awesome!" | Keeg's musings... "I love your fun, playful personality. And you throw extremely fun parties!" | Madison's musings... "She's so funny. She's loving and she makes amazing gluten-free, dairy-free desserts."
To A Amazing Friend | I love your spirit of compassion, generosity & loyality | I love your fun spirit and laughter | Julie
I knew Anne was something special before we met. Paul had stepped in as a key player in my life during a time of transition that required much wisdom and guidance. I met the kids shortly after and quickly began to adore a family dynamic that was so rich and thick, yet undefined. It comes from lessons learned and life applied. From a mother who knows what it means to sacrifice for family, from a wife who can see what it looks like to fight for love, from a friend who knows how to listen and speak truth. Just a few of the many figures to cherish, grow from and ponder. I love you, Anne. Happy Birthday melyssa rae'
Honored to be a part of finding what it means to be a village.
You make me want to be a better person, Anne. I'm so grateful you were born. God uses you in mighty ways that you cannot comprehend. Love you real big, Deborah
Can't help but smile when I remember #1 having hair, and #2 our friendship at UNT. Also, have a look at those two first-born daughters in Colorado! | If there is a favorite memory, this might be it. Two friends in Paris catching up after being apart for months of traveling. | Happy birthday life long friend!
To one of my dearest friends, From softball to Super Bowls to Shula's, we have way too many memories to recall, but capturing individual moments to celebrate you is the best of all. You have a remarkable story and I'm thankful to be a part of it - Happy 40th! Love you, Tim
Anne - What an amazing journey! I am so happy that I have been able to share in 10 of the past 40 years of God's good work in you. And the best part - He's not finished yet! Happy Birthday! Love ya, Jennifer

Dear Annie, What a privilege to celebrate you! Forty years young--and a life's journey of adventure, challenge and seeing God do what only God can do. You are a remarkably gifted and talented woman, who sees beauty in everything around her--especially family and friends. We value that about you--your ability to embrace people well so that they feel cared for, so they are comfortable with being known. You have a very generous heart. We can still remember when we first got to know you, when your hair was long and you were young enough to vividly remember being a soccer keeper in college. Your spontaneity and generous laughter made it easy to be with you, to get to know you. We remember times of deep conversations, when you felt free to be genuine, when the integrity of your heart shone through no matter how challenging the circumstances. We can remember as the kids came along, watching you love your family well, allowing your children freedom to explore yet finding safety in well-defined boundaries. Watching your children grow into delightful people who love each other and care for one another has been amazing. We deeply respect your abilities as a parent. And watching you and Paul journey together, through good and challenging times, has been an encouragement and a joy for us. The many ways you two connect and build each other up and the many ways you give each other freedom to be individuals takes maturity, love, passion and commitment. And now this new season, a time of welcoming new children into a joyful home, sharing your hearts and your love. Your passion for those less fortunate, that you actually do something about it, is a reflection of the deep love of the Father in you. So we celebrate you, Annie. Joyfully and gladly. Happy 40th birthday, sweet friend. May you continually experience His deep joy and delight in you as you daily reflect Him to others. In His love, John and Dayle
It is amazing to me how our Father weaves His children together to create a beautiful tapestry of His perfect love. We are each a part of His ongoing story of faithfulness. This is certainly evident in your heart, Anne. You are an incredible picture of His Love, His Grace, and His mercy. Thank you for being a safe place for me to share the depths of my being. I love you!!!! -Kristin PS- I wish I could break an apple in half with my bare hands like you. You're amazing. Anne, Father has brought so much love into our lives and to this world through you. May He continue revealing His love to you and through you for many more years. Love, Dennis PS-I wish I could run as far as you.
