2: To Whom It May Concern: My name is Audrey Holsclaw, and I was so excited to discover that your company has an opening. I am currently employed at WVURC in the department of Physics as the PIRE Administrator. I’m really looking for a new challenge that utilizes my skills. I think I would be perfect for your open position. During my time at CityNet, it was one of my main responsibilities to recruit new technicians and work out the details of everyone’s schedules, both the technicians and our customers. I also arranged many events during my time there: employee outings, Christmas parties, and occasionally, dinners with larger clients. During my time with the WVU Computer Gaming Club, I recruited more than 80 women to join what had previously been an all-male club. I have helped plan four weddings, including my own, in the last five years – all of which required a tremendous amount of coordination. In May, I helped my sister with her wedding invitations, and I’m proud to say that she really loved what I came up with. I also created a video scrapbook for her wedding reception. In June, as a PIRE Administrator, I forged relationships with people across the globe in China, Australia, Germany, Finland, France, and Italy as part of coordinating an international consortium with only 60 days on the job. As an ’06 graduate from WVU with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and previously, a technical writer for SSM, I am more than familiar with BANNER, STAR, MIX, eCAMPUS, and the numerous systems used by the University to make the most of technology and the utilization of that technology by its students. It was my job to utilize BANNER and its many modules and write easily understandable documentation for every level of technical skill. With nearly ten years of administrative and writing experience, I have written in both the private and public sectors. I have extensive experience writing from my time at The WV Record (as a reporter), The Daily Athenaeum (as a copyeditor), CityNet (as a technical and administrative writer), and WVU (as a technical writer and editor). Writing is my bread and butter, so I know my functional communication skills are up to par. During my time at the WVU Press, I worked as a production assistant and graphic designer. With a deadlines approaching, it was my job to format and design authors’ books. I even worked with Senator Byrd on his biography. It was my responsibility to correct and salvage his old family photos, and it was truly a mind-blowing experience with an amazing West Virginian. I have always loved writing and editing, and I want a job where I can do those things. I’m really looking for a job that engages some of my creativity. I currently spend my spare time doing volunteer work with Eating Disorders Anonymous and PCOS Challenge, both of which include a tremendous amount of young people on the cusp of their college career and adulthood. As someone who struggled to reach adulthood and find a path, I feel I am well-suited to help students, and even more so, I enjoy giving responsible advice and counsel. I hope you feel like you’ve gotten to know me a bit. I’m detail-oriented, computer savvy, and my customer service skills are stellar. I’m also an excellent team leader. I know I would make a great addition to Administrative Information Systems with my technical expertise, well-rounded writing, and multimedia experience. I hope you’ll consider my résumé and portfolio. Thank you in advance for your time, and should you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Audrey E. Holsclaw
