3: "Unwanted Daughter Wins First Place" By: Makayla Kosmicki Adeline, an unwanted daughter, wins first place for a writing competition in spring of 1951 - 1952 in Hong Kong. Adeline, an unwanted daughter, was currently at a boarding school called Sacred Heart Canosian School, because her parents thought of her unlucky and sent her away. The reason she entered was because she was the only student there over the summer and was able to give herself something to do. In the end, her father saw that she had won the competition and was proud of Adeline, deciding to let her go to where her dreams were, to go to collage in England with her brothers.

Another reason she loved school so much is because people liked her and treated her nicely unlike at home. Class effort: Overall, Adeline was a very great student and enjoyed being in the class room. She gave it her all and received great grades. Adeline also tried very hard on her homework and turned everything in on time.
5: Explanation (continued) | Being loved: She has a -C in this area because the only place that people like her is at school. her parents are very mean and always make her go last. Also, she always stays home from everything that the family does. Believing her dreams: The only reason that Adeline was down graded a bit was because at one point she was talking to her Ye Ye (grandpa) and started to become negative. Once she turned back to being positive, she believed in her dreams and met them: to go to collage in England with her brothers. Being treated fairly: Overall Adeline only earned a D on this area because her family always made her go last for everything. Also, the whole family was really kind of mean to her because when she was born her real mom died two weeks later. Now she is called unlucky. Grades: Overall Adeline was always top of the class. Adeline also lived being in school and attitude is everything and she had a great attitude for school!

7: Explanation Paper and Pencils: Adeline would carry paper and pencils because she loves school and writing. She would also have these items because she would be able to write to Aunt Baba. Map/atlas: She would have a map and/or atlas so she would be able to find her way around town and not get lost. Also so she can learn her surroundings because the family moved a lot, and so she can do some school work maybe. Extra food and water: Adeline would need extra food and water because if she ever got in any sort of trouble she might not be allowed to eat until her father got home or if she got lost or kicked out. Change of clothes: She would need a change of clothes to stay clean whole the others were getting washed. Extra money: She would need extra money if she ever got kicked out of the house or if she needs to get transportation and food. Picture of her Aunt Baba and her friends: Once Adeline was separated from her Aunt Baba, the only person that loved her, and was alone, she might want to see her picture.
