FC: Get Happy. Obtaining a Healthy Weight for Active Teenage Boys (Basketball) Jack Gallagher & Anna Wilson

1: In this book, you will see the transformation of an underweight fourteen-year-old boy, named Pizzazio, into a boy with a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI). Pizzazio was 5'9" and weighed 120 pounds. He had a BMI of 17.7 and needed five more pounds to have a healthy, 18.5 BMI. Pizzazio was an active boy, so when he followed this plan of increased caloric intake, he began gaining about one pound per week. Here is what Pizzazio eats in a regular week.

2: DAY ONE | Pizzazio starts his day off with a large bowl of CAP'N CRUNCH'S CRUNCHBERRIES and one cup of whole milk (so far 359 calories). He later eats a peanut-butter granola bar and one cup of whole milk for a snack (bringing his daily caloric intake to 920 calories thus far). His lunch contains two peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, a small bag of Lay's Potato Chips, a fruit salad*, two brownies, and a cup of apple juice (now at 2,252 calories). His last meal is a fried chicken breast with a baked potato, three bread sticks, and a 12 ounce Pepsi. Pizzazio's caloric intake for DAY ONE was 3,214 calories. According to LIVESTRONG and MayoClinic, an active boy like Pizzazio must take in about 3,500 calories per day to gain one pound per week. *fruit salad contains pineapple, papaya, banana, guava, and artificial sweeteners.

3: DAY TWO | Today Pizzazio eats bacon and biscuits with chocolate milk for breakfast (1,049 calories). For a snack he eats the strongly encouraged granola bar** and cup of whole milk (1,610 calories). Lunch is two peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, a small bag of Cheetoh’s Chips, a fruit salad, fruit juice, and two chocolate chip cookies (2947 calories). Pizzazio eats Campell's Chicken Noodle Soup with five servings of Keebler's Club Crackers, bringing his daily caloric intake to 3447 calories. **The granola bar is encouraged as a snack because it is high in calories, but doesn't fill up the consumer.

4: For breakfast Pizzazio eats a large bowl of Cherrio's with whole milk in it and chocolate milk on the side (508 calories). The snack is a granola bar with whole milk (1,069 calories). Lunch is two peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, a small bag of Lay’s Chips, a fruit salad, apple juice, and two chocolate chip cookies (2,418 calories). Dinner is a t-bone steak with sweet corn and green beans and a cup of whole milk, bringing the calories that Pizzazio put into his body at 3,159. | DAY THREE

5: DAY FOUR | Pizzazio eats three scrambled eggs for breakfast and washes it down with orange juice (866 calories). His snack- of course- is the granola bar with whole milk (1,427 calories). Lunch is two peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, a small bag of Frito’s Chips, a fruit salad, apple juice, and two small brownies (2,759 calories). Lastly, Dinner is a six-inch oven roasted chicken breast from Subway with a small baked potato and side of baked beans and a cup of water. This brings the total calories to 3,781

6: DAY FIVE | Today Pizzazio has two cups of cereal with whole milk for breakfast (500 calories). His snack is a granola bar with whole milk (1,061 calories). Lunch is two peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches, a small bag of Cheetoh’s Chips, a fruit salad, a cup of whole milk and two chocolate chip cookies (2,448 calories). Dinner is spaghetti with sauce and bread sticks. The number of calories consumed today was 3,381. | DAY SIX | Pizzazio eats two pancakes with syrup and drinks orange juice (1,341 calories). He has a small bag of popcorn for a snack (1,481 calories). Lunch is four slices of Pizza Hut pizza with a twelve ounce Pepsi (2,531 calories). Dinner is tomato soup with five servings of club crackers and a cup of whole milk, bringing the total number of calories eaten by Pizzazio to 3,331.

7: DAY SEVEN | Pizzazio eats a Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll with bacon and chocolate milk (1,049 calories). For a snack he has a small bag of popcorn (1,189 calories). Lunch is a cheeseburger, fries, and water (2,098 calories). Dinner is four slices of pizza hut pizza with a Pepsi, bringing the daily caloric intake to 3,248 calories.

8: On day one Pizzaio will run one lap around the track to get his heart rate up. then he will lift weights for about 45 minutes. Later, he will play basketball for about an hour. | For exercise on day two, Pizzazo will run one lap and then lift weights for about half an hour. | On day three Pizzazio will play basketball for about two hours. | PIZZAZIO'S EXCERCISE PLAN | Today (day four) Pizzazio will run one lap on the track and then lift weights for about 30 minutes. Later, he will play basketball for an hour.

9: On day five, Pizzazio will run for a lap, then lift weights for 30-45 minutes. | Today on day six Pizzazio will run one lap on the track and then lift weights for about 30 minutes. Later, he will play basketball. | On day seven, Pizzazio will play pick-up basketball for about two hours.
