BC: I Love You!
FC: This is Home
Once upon a time there was a seasoned mother who was feeling labour pains. She rushed to the hospital and a beautiful baby girl was born to her. Her parents named her Amber Lee Hughes. | It just so happened that on the very same day a new mother was rushing to the hospital for the very first time. A handsome jaundice little boy was born a month earlier than planned and he was named Ryan Dee Palmer. Sparks flew in the Foothills hospital in Calgary on January 1st 1987. Amber Lee and Ryan Dee cooed and laughed together in the hospital nursery, completely unaware that they would be separated for 21 long years.
Amber even went on a hunger strike because she was so heartbroken from being separated from her first and only true love. She just needed to go back to the hospital where Ryan was being kept. | The separation happened suddenly. Many tears were shed but instead of broken hearts the tears were mistaken for poopy diapers (in Ryan’s case) and an empty stomach (in Amber’s case).
The inability to walk, drive or even talk kept Amber and Ryan apart. Eventually time began to heal their hearts and wipe their memories clean. In the case of Amber the memory loss lasted for a long time. She would meet Ryan throughout the years but forget every single encounter. They both led very excited lives apart – not realizing what they were missing and preparing for!
Finally after 21 years Ryan spotted a girl with an amazing butt. It was during an intense game of volleyball where Amber and Ryan were on the same team. Although they met, Amber was still cursed with the memory loss problem from her time as an infant. | It wasn’t long before that changed. One day Amber and Ryan were both invited to a mutual friend’s birthday party. Cake and awkward conversation ensued and it wasn’t until everyone was leaving to go play laser tag that Amber turned to Ryan and said “Hi, I’m Amber. I don’t think that I know you”. From the moment that she learned his name, suddenly Ryan was constantly on her mind. So much so that she invited him to be her friend on Facebook in the following days. To Ryan’s shock he realized that this girl named Amber had the same birthday as him.
Ryan asked Amber on a date to Peters Drive-in to get milkshakes and he did his best to impress her, unfortunately he was so nervous that he forgot to do many important things...like opening Amber’s door or paying for the date. Luckily Amber was so interested in him that she gave him another chance to win her heart over again. Ryan succeeded in every way and Amber realized that she was completely and totally in love with him.
On March 30, 2009 Ryan took Amber out for a fancy hamburger dinner at Milestones and then took her to a hill overlooking the city to serenade her and present her with a shiny beautiful engagement ring. Everything was perfect and Amber was so excited to become his wife.
The wedding was set for June 20, 2009 and time seemed to slow down while they were waiting to be united. Finally the day arrived and Ryan waited nervously at the Cardston temple for a late bride to arrive. | Amber and Ryan held hands over the altar and promised to love each other forever.
Ryan had planned the first of many adventures for their honeymoon. The day after they were married they flew to Cuba. The majority of the trip was spent relaxing in the sunshine, drinking endless pina coladas and enjoying the thought of never having to be separated again.
The newlywed Palmer's moved into their very first HOME together: 649 Strathcona Blvd.
They had SO much fun together.... | ...going to Calaway Park
 the cabin
 Stampeder's football games and picnics
 camping and hiking
 hanging at the zoo
 making festive treats
 Global Fest fireworks
plays and other reasons to get dressed up fancy
 cold times and hot times
first anniversary in Canmore | I love you!
spending time with friends and family
and going to Puerto Vallarta for their 24th birthday present.
The Palmer's liked switching things up, so they moved to 122 Cougar Ridge View SW and then settled down at 1121 21 Ave NW. They also traded their black Toyota Yaris (Lurch) in for a bright blue Saturn Ion (Derek).
It didn't matter what they did. Amber and Ryan always had fun because they were so in love. Their friendship grew and although sometimes they got into fights or had hard times they pushed through because they knew that they had something AMAZING together.
...and obviously they lived happily ever after!
