FC: Nathan & Lily 2010-2011

Dedicated to Nathan and Lily: We are so thankful that God gifted us with both of you! Nate...our funny, creative little professor and Lily...our spunky, joy-filled little princess. This was a year of exciting endings and new beginnings! 2011-2012

This summer we took a large group to Colorado. We started out in Colorado Springs with a visit to the McKenzies, then moved on to Vail. We spent several days enjoying the amazing weather & scenery, hiking, shopping, swimming and fellowship. We went on a beaver watching hike, and although we didn't spy any real beavers, Nate and JP volunteered to represent the toothy creatures! We finished the trip in Breckenridge painting pottery, shopping and spending some time with Pops and Gram.

When our pottery was delivered from Colorado, Nate and Lily couldn't resist playing with the packing peanuts!

 Special Delivery

Nate's class at Log Cabin Village. Nate really liked the blacksmith's shop. | Log Cabin Village

One of Lily's field trips was to Lowe's Farm. She loved being with her friends, but wasn't sure about touching all the animals! Mom, however, loved it.

It is always fun to discover what Nate and Lily want to be for Halloween. This year it was Shrlock Holmes and a fairy. Nate only wore his costume a short time and decided he was to old for Trick or Treating. No more little boy stuff! I guess.! | Happy Halloween!

Mad Fairy! | Elementary, my dear Watson

 Twas the Light Before Christmas

It was fun to watch Nate and Lily perform together at the Christmas program this year. Nate was "Timmy" the lead angel and Lily's class sang in the chorus. Nate was perfect for the part and they both sang like angels! | JOY

 Merry Christmas

This year for Christmas we met Grampie and Grammie at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. The hotel was decked out for the holidays and we spent a long time just exploring all the areas and enjoying the scenery. For Grammie's birthday we watched the Louise Mandrell holiday show and even had our photo taken with her. We took an indoor boat ride, shopped for ornaments and waited for Santa to visit...he found us!

A quick trip to Cali for beaches, Legoland, and the RoseBowl...

 San Diego

 China Town

When we dropped Dad and Uncle Greg off to see the Rosebowl, we felt adventurous enough to find Chinatown! As we arrived there was a small parade in one of the main streets celebrating the Taiwanese New Year. We found some fun shops and bought Lily a Chinese dress...the storekeepers spoke little English, but were fascinated by Lily and gave her an extra little toy before we left. There was a little grotto where people were attempting to throw coins into buckets marked with good luck, wealth, health, etc. We didn't make it in any of them, but felt fortunate to be enjoying a sunny day together exploring. After walking through a Chinese grocery store and eating some Chinese food we drove through Hollywood back to our hotel.

Nate always has a very specific idea what he would like to do for his birthday. This year he planned a lego party complete with a lego trivia contest, a building competition and a lego cake made by Taylor. Of course there were hand made goodie bags with amazing "lego" sayings on them. Ready, Set, Build... January 2011 | Meredith, Lily, Hannah, Roussy, Nate and Gregory

 LEGO

When Aaron & Shara came up for a visit, spent the afternoon at Log Cabin Villiage in Ft Worth. We dressed up, explored and played. We even came away with some penny whistles which the parents eventually hid! | Log Cabin Village

2Firsts | March was a big month for Lily. Our kindergartener learned to ride a bike without training wheels...

...and Miss Anne bought Lily her first American Girl Doll for her 6th birthday. Lily chose Ivy right away, but we looked at EVERY item in the store.

For Lily's 6th birthday, she chose to invite a few friends to paint pottery. The artists had a fabulously creative time and then enjoyed a paint pallet cookie cake created by Taylor.

 Happy 6th Birthday!

 Nasher Art Museum

 Lily.....butterfly whisperer

 Survivor Babylon

Nate takes after both his parents...he has a dramatic flair. He is amazing on stage and this year's musical was no exception. They performed a musical version of Shadrach, Meshack and Abednigo called Survivor Babylon....."If you don't bow, you're gonna get burned!"

 Kindergarten Graduation
