S: 2006 Adventure in Europe
BC: “Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard
My Experience in Europe 2006 | A Stunning view of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo | My time abroad was a year full of fun, excitement adventure, and growth. Living in Italy was nothing short of a dream, and traveling throughout Europe was an unbelievable experience. I came home with lasting friendships and cherished memories. I am so blessed!
Ivana was incredible! I had a very special bond with her. I miss her terribly and have so many memories of her. She would come into my room every morning to wake me up, but usually end up putting my covers back on and telling me to go back to sleep. Then she come back and would talk to me until I got out of bed. She couldn't resist chocolate and would chase my out of the house with breakfast if I tried to leave without eating. Anytime I left on a train she would send food and oh... her cooking was amazing! And everytime I left she would ask me to call her and tell me to not do silly things, just like a mom would. When it was time to leave, it was most difficult to leave her. She will always have a special place in my heart. | Ivana Gavinelli My Italian Mom. She was an Angel... One in a million!

Bottom left: Our FAVORITE beer was Rugenbrau, from this area of Switzerland. All the restaurant mugs and ash trays had the beer label on them. We planned to heist a mug and ash tray, but if you aren't smoking, they take the ash tray away. So, we bought smokes and left them on the table.. We successfully got both items. We're REBELS!
 Canyon Jumping
Canyon jumping is basically a very large swing. The rope it tight, unlike bungee jumping, and attached to a point on a wire stretching across the canyon. During the jump, the rope progressively becomes taught and turns into a swing through the canyon. It was very exciting!!! | a deep breath and a leap...
THE GERMAN FANS WERE THROWING FLARES AT US ITALIAN FANS
 ITALY VS. GERMANY
We spent Spring Break in Mykonos, Greece. Mykonos is a well known tourist destination but we were there before the season began, so we were nearly the only tourists on the island. There was nothing open and all we had to do all week was eat and drive around the Island, but we had the best time! Many of the locals knew us because we were the only tourists, so I think we had a very unique Greek experience. We stayed at a hostel called Mama's Pension, owned by a German/Greek family. We spent every morning with the woman we knew as 'mama', eating her Quince jam on bread. She was incredibly sweet. Nick, Steve, Sol and I drove around the Island on underpowered 4-wheelers, had a FIAT rent-a-car, threw rocks at mountain goats, jammed to Greek music - specfically a song entitled 'Spasibo Baby', went out and danced to Greek music, which was hilarious, drank oozo and ate a ridiculous amount of food. Greece was the most memorable of trips.... I absolutely loved it.

Until Europe I had never been around such rich history. This trip to Greece was amazing. I am now more intriqued and inspired by history, especially of this country.
This guy was awesome. We saw him ride into town everyday we were there...
 Eating Octopus
Munich, Germany A day at the Hofbrauhaus
A Somber Journey This was a day I will never forget. The second I walked through the iron gate I felt ill. The brutality lingers. Walking the grounds was an awakening experience. Listening to survivors telling their stories while standing where they stood... The horror was unimaginable, yet became so real. The pages of history became real. I felt them. Never Again. Lest we forget!

Working at Summer Camp Yolichka | In Russia I learned the most, I changed the most and I was challenged the most. Russia was different than any other place I had been, but upon leaving, it felt like home. I fell in love with Russia and the Russian people. I love their culture, language, and traditions. I went to Russia with absolutely no knowledge of Russian language, but learned very quickly. Still, in camp I never knew what was going on, what we were doing, or how to help. But it was a fun challenge to try and learn how to communicate. The children were wonderful. They loved America and would shout with their very strong accents "HELLO" whenever they saw me. So cute. Working with Russians was also wonderful, and I left with many cherished relationships. They were so warm and welcoming, and anxious to share their lives and their culture. Russia is an incredible country and I often feel homesick for it, as if it were really home. Thanks Russia for teaching me so much.. and letting me keep a piece of you in my heart.
