BC: Even though I walk through valley of the shadow of death Your perfect love is casting out fear and even when I'm caught in the middle of the storms of this life I won't turn back I know you are near And I will fear no evil for my God is with me and if my God is with me whom then shall I fear whom then shall I fear? Oh no, you never let go, through the calm and through the storm Oh no, you never let go, in every high and every low Oh no, you never let go, Lord you never let go of me!! And I can see a light that is coming for a heart that holds on. A glorious light beyond all compare. And there will be an end to these troubled but until that day comes We'll live to know You here on this earth | You Never Let Go
FC: Nicaragua Mission Trip 2008 | by Carissa Vander Meulen
Our mission Statement As we embark on our journey to Nicaragua, we trust that God will reveal His purpose for us. We look forward to sharing Christs love with the people we encounter by loving them wholeheartedly. We pray that God will Break us spiritually, so we can rely on Him!
fhjdalhjal | Destination: Managua Nicaragua! | My new Team!
These are some of the sights I saw my first day in managua nicaragua It was so beautiful there, yet there was such poverty!! The guy above is Mario he will be our translater and my friend for the next 10 days
Welcome to the Villa Esparanza!!! Or othwise known as the "Village of Hope" this little piece of paradise acts as a refuge for girls of all ages!! These girls were rescued from the city dump (La chureca) which you will soon see! This place also houses many teams each year
The Precious Girls living at the Villa
We spent alot of time with the girls at the Villa! We played basketball, lots of soccer, and hungout on their swing set!! We also did arts and crafts in the El Rancho. And on special nights before dinner all the girls would dress up so we got the privilege of doing their hair!! It was such a blessing to get to know each girl even though it was difficult because of the language difference
Welcome to La Chureca! aka the city dump!! This Dump is over 70 acres and houses hundreds of poverty stricken families!
Hope Christian School is located in the center of the Dump, its purpose is to educate the children of La Chureca
Meet Francisco, he was saved by Jesus and now runs the feeding program in La chureca, that provides children a meal a day. Such a precious Man | We are praying for him because he suffers from a very terrible skin disease compliments of living in garbage
The People living here made money by burning bone for compost, collecting paper and plastic for recycling! On average they would make a dollar or two a day
A Day at HAT | HAT is a government funded Orphanage kinda... | I say "kinda" because the government only provides for HAT when they have extra money, that means sometimes they don't get funds for weeks or even months!
 Children of HAT!!
Today they get a meal! and with every meal comes 30 mins. of digestine
as is tradition we threw a party for the kids, pinnata and all!!
Most of the children at HAT have parents but have been abandoned because of disablilties or they just aren't wanted! They also house children who have run away from abusive parents or wandered in lost
Iglesia Cristiana Verbo This local church has been working to get families out of the dump! We spent a day cleaning and painting their small church building! The couple on the next page is the pastor and his wife
Our weekend get away We went to Rio Blanco a small town 6 hours away from the Villa. The picture above is the pastor who is trying to start a church in Rio Blanco. Our mission was to help build the church! We also picked up garbage and played with the local kids at the park!
 our new home
Let the building begin!! Turns out we have to dig 6 foot holes in solid clay ground before we can do any building! We spent our days diggin clay and hauling rocks!
We also spent some time serving the city by picking up garbage and playing with kids at the public park! | we visited the local church and helped with Sunday school!
we spent our last day with the girls at the beach!
 Saying good bye
A Big Thanks!! to all the cooks, translators, field coordinators, and team leaders who were responsible for this amazing experience. And an even bigger thanks to God for His sovereign, divine plan for me!
