BC: The End!

FC: "A picture says 1000 words". May the photographs displayed in this gallery inspire it's viewers to appreciate the artisitic value of the world around them | Corrinne Frey Art 1030 Scrapblog project A. Patel 7:15-10:00

One of the most basic elements of art- line is depicted here. it seems the straight and curved lines of the rock are reaching out to each other from both the ceiling down and the floor up to give a sense of depth and texture.

The size of the rose bush in the foreground, relative to the castle is not in proportion- the comparative relationship or ratio of things to another. knowledge of linear perspective (the farther objects are from us, the smaller they appear to the eye) would allow us to infer that the castle is farther away, and larger than the roses.

The focal point, or part of the work that seizes the viewer's attention, is the matador and his cape. The matador and his cape are both very bright and striking in color, while the brown bull blends into the background of the dirt arena.

This road seems to disappear in the horizon. The one point perspective shown here does just that through use of vanishing points. The illusion of depth is created by making parallel lines converge at a point on the horizon.

The trees seem to radiate from the center of the image, giving this photo radial balance. The trunks of the trees are very dark, and seem to fan out into areas of dark gray at the limbs, then finally clear to pale gray where the sky peeks through the tree tops. This gradual shifting from extreme light to dark is known as chiaroscuro.

A strong theme in art is the relationship between art and beauty. Beauty is defined by cultural beliefs and ideals. The vibrant costumes and makeup are rooted in this cultures vision of beauty.

While the illusion of motion is typically captured through multiple exposure photography, one can see the implied motion in the hummingbird's wings. The hummingbird's body is crisp so we can assume it to be fairly immobile, it's wings are a blur -implying that they are in motion.

This sculpture/fountain exemplifies the use of Cannon of proportions- or the rules governing body parts and their dimensions relative to each other.
