S: The Pie Adventure

BC: The two children featured in this book are very adorable and willing helpers. In their spare time they like to color, play outside, and tickle each other. While in real life Emma is a very picky eater, she thoroughly enjoyed acting out the book with her brother. To read more McNabb featurettes, simply contact McNabb publishing and encourage a sequel.

FC: The Pie Adventure or A fun story about a cute little girl who wants an apple pie for her birthday but can't get apples and ends up meeting a bunch of spunky animals willing to help her out in other ways. Artistic Help by: Emma & Leo McNabb

Once upon a recent time, in a land not so far away, there lived a sweet little girl named Emma. | Emma loved fruits and desserts. She would change every meal to fruits and desserts if she had her way.

Her birthday was quickly approaching and her mother asked her what she wanted to eat for her big day. | After thinking a minute she said,"an apple pie." She was so excited, combining two of her favorite things together. How clever she thought to herself.

"I need you to go to the farmers market and get some apples," her mother said. So Emma grabbed a basket and some money to go get apples.

She arrived at the farmers market only to realize it was so late in the morning that the market was closed. | CLOSED

Emma started her long walk back to her house, and was very sad that she could not have apple pie (fruit and dessert) for her birthday. Suddenly, she heard a strange noise.

From behind a bush a monkey popped out. "Why are you so sad?" The monkey asked. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my banana," said the monkey. | Emma smiled, thanked the monkey, and took the banana as she continued on her path. Along her way she heard another strange noise.

A sweet little doggy ran up to Emma. "Why are you so sad?" The doggy barked as he wagged his tail. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my peanut butter," barked the doggy. | Emma smiled and took the peanut butter and continued on her path. Along her way she heard a peculiar noise.

From behind a tree little lion walked up to Emma. "Why are you so sad?" The little lion roared. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my peaches," roared the little lion. | Emma smiled and took the peaches and continued on her path. She thought she heard a mooing in the distance.

She did hear mooing, and the cow walked right up to her. "Why are you so sad?" The cow mooed. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my milk," mooed the cow. | Emma smiled and took the milk and continued on her path. Along her way a buzzing noise grew louder and louder.

A bee started circling her head. "Why are you so sad?" The bee buzzed. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my honey," buzzed the bee. | Emma smiled and took the honey and continued on her path. She was getting closer to home when she spotted something in the distance.

An adorable kitty cat popped out of the woods. "Why are you so sad?" The kitty cat meowed. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my cream," meowed the kitty cat. | Emma smiled and took the cream after she pet the cat. She could see her house now.

Before she could get to the front door a beautiful butterfly flapped in her face. "Why are you so sad?" The butterfly flapped. | "Because I have no apples for my birthday pie," Emma replied.

"Well I don't have apples, but you can have my berries," flapped the butterfly. | Emma hugged the butterfly and took the berries and continued on her path. She reached her house and ran inside.

Emma called for her mother. When she found her she told her the whole story about the market being closed and her trip back with the animals and gifts. She showed her the basket full of food. | "Well, I can't make a pie with that, but I think I can make something better," said her mother.

Emma's mom spent the whole afternoon in the kitchen. After what seemed like forever, she finally told Emma to come see her surprise.

That looks delicious. | That smells delicious

And it WAS delicious. | The End
