BC: There's nothing like a good walk with the Lord. July 2011

FC: What Kindness Has Been Given To Me!

Sandy, it's hard to believe its been 6 years since you started blessing me with standby. When I graduated high school, there was a lot of uncertainty about how life was going to unfold. Today, I am confident that I can go anywhere. Whether it's on an airplane or in my head, I have truly discovered the world to be both limitless and in need of discovery. In the first year you sent me to Missouri where I met the four seasons and a whole lot of love. May this book offer you a glimpse of what God has done through you and in me and so many that have crossed paths with me over the last few years. With much thankfulness, Jovon

And then I had to come home...something I didnt think about when I left. But you were there to provide assistance and I came back for a very timely and eventful Christmas

The day before I was suppose to return to Arizona, Nick sat us down and told us that he was going to have a child. And so, I wasnted to stay longer in Arizona--I wanted to stay with my family, and you made it possible for me to do so.

The following summer, you flew me to New York to help a pastor begin his church. Because of the money saved, I brought NIck and for the first time in awhile, I saw my brother feel free.

Then, you sent me to Michigan for another school. When I arrived, it was 0 degrees Fahrenheit. However, living in Michigan meant that I could visit the log cabin that my granpa grew up in. Also, I could place flowers at the graves of his loved ones. As a result, we got closer.

Then, you sent me to England to study the effects of the holocaust on Christianity in Europe. Needless to say, I got around. It was a trip that forever changed me.

It was through your help that I ecountered the meaning of tradition and the cruciality of faith in tragedy.

After England, you sent me to Michigan for one last year of college. Who would have thought I would meet a girl right before I leave? Thank you Sandy!

After graduation, I flew home just long enough to watch my niece become captivated by pinecombs.

With much refection, I decided to go to New York for seminary. So, you graciously gave me the wings to move and to quickly become an associate minister at a local church. However, before long, I received the news that my Indian' friend's father was going to be imprisoned for fraud. My mother called you up and I was in Detroit by noon the next day. During my stay there, I offered much encouragement and was also blessed by what enormous hope filled that house. Right before I left, I even made the entire family banana pancakes.

 Trinity Presbyterian Church

The second to last timI used stand by, I flew to New York after hearing the news that my pastor in New York, Rev. Dr. Robert Helm had passed. I was in Michigan and it would have been pricey to make it back in time for the funeral. However, God used you to help me, it was beautiful.

So I have learned, as one poet puts it, that one of the best things in life is to fee strong and to love the people that make life magical. You have done much for me in my life, and my heart is forever grateful.

The last time you flew me out, one of those little kids from a long time ago was graduating...

And I was in Michigan, meeting Tina's entire family!

May your life blossom, as you have deeply impacted my life, my heart, and my future.
