BC: In your fourth year... | B R A D Y I S T W O | One was fun, but we can already tell that two will totally suit you! We are ready (we think) to face the adventures that the "terrible twos" will bring. We are eager to see the next chapter of who you are unfold. We love you crazy, Little Man! Happy Birthday, Brady.
FC: t h e s e c o n d y e a r | Brady
B R A D Y | Bear | Two years of Brady. Two years full of big smiles, big messes, and big adventures. How did we ever fill our days before you were here? You keep us on our toes, Baby Boy. This year has been a joy and an adventure watching you grow from an easy going, laid back baby into a fiercely independent toddler with definite opinions of your own. No one will ever call you a push over, Little Man. You know what you want, and you know what you don't want. We love your curiosity, your childish wonder, and your innocence. You make us laugh with your stubbornness, your always appropriately timed "whoa!", and even with your giant messes that have earned you the title of "Our Little Disaster." You fill a void in this family that we never knew existed, and we can't imagine our lives without you in them. Your big smile and bright blue eyes will always melt our hearts. You are so loved. It has been quite a ride watching your personality unfold this year, and we can't wait to see what year three has in store for you! We are certain that it will be big.
Happy 1st Birthday | To celebrate your special day, we invited all of your friends to the park to play and share pizza and cupcakes! You had a "ball" at your party! | d e c e m b e r 1 6 , 2 0 1 0
Come one, come all, you'll have a ball..! | You made it perfectly clear to us that you were not interested in wearing a party hat...and that's OK! You stared at your giant cupcake for a bit before figuring out that the icing tasted really, really good. Then, of course, you dug right in! It was such a treat for us to get to throw you your very first birthday party! We love you!
 g | This year was extra special because we got to share with you all of the little things that we do to get ready for Christmas! | e | t | t | i | n | g | r | e | a | d | y | ...
 CHRISTMAS EVE
December is truly the best month of the year in our house. Not only do we get to celebrate your birthday (and your sister's birthday!), but we get to celebrate Christmas too. For the second year in a row, we spent Christmas Eve at home with just our little family. We wrapped the last presents, baked the last batch of cookies, read our Christmas stories one last time, got all dressed up, and went to church. What a difference a year makes. Last year on Christmas Eve, you were just a tiny, little bundle, only nine days old. This year, you were intrigued by the lights, the decorations, the cookies, and the gifts, and you were in to (and often on top of) everything! Holidays are so much more special now that you are here to share them with us!
christmas morning | You must have made it onto Santa's "nice list" this year, because he was very good to you. You were immediately drawn to the train table that awaited you when you came down the stairs on Christmas morning. We spent the day at home enjoying each others' company, indulging in yummy food and treats, and surrounded by family.
You had zero interest in opening your wrapped gifts this year. You could not have cared less. The food, the wrapping paper, & the people were more than enough entertainment for you. Your sister, of course, was more than willing to help you take care of the stack of gifts that remained when bedtime came.
a winter walk. | One great thing about living in Texas is that we get to enjoy the outdoors all year long. On this particular day in January, we took a long walk around the lake near our house. We made lots of little stops along the way. Your favorite part was exploring "the forest" with Avery. | January 2011
 day of play
When Avery is in school, you get the rare opportunity to play with whatever you want, whenever you want, and however you want. It is a joy to watch you explore and play and learn new things in your very own way and at your very own pace. One of your most favorite things to do when out from under your sister's watchful eye, is to venture in to her room and play with her favorite things because above all other things, you love anything that she loves. | J A N U A R Y 2 0 1 1 | When Sister's away, Brady will play... | ...in her room, with her stuff.
f e b r u a r y 2 0 1 1 | World | This trip almost didn't happen. You started throwing up the night before we were supposed to fly out. After much second guessing, we decided to go for it anyway. Despite feeling pretty awful, you were a trooper, and we all made it to Florida. Then, you got a black eye on the shuttle on the way to the hotel. Thankfully, by Day 3, you were feeling much better and were able to join in the fun! We ended up having a great vacation!

 f e b r u a r y 2 0 1 1 | ...but you can be really, really gross!
You were king of the Mardi Gras this year! We dubbed ourselves Krewe of 'da Creek, and you and all of the other neighborhood kids played in the street, threw beads, and enjoyed each others' company all evening long. You had a great time riding in the wagon with Avery in the Mardi Gras parade - though I'm fairly certain that you collected more beads than you threw. | Mardi Gras

You had so much fun playing in the sprinkler. You couldn't believe that we let you get all wet. There will be many more days like this to come - spring has only just begun. | Jan - Feb 2011 | march 2011
a very good day | a very good day
We were so fortunate to have absolutely beautiful weather this spring. On this particular day, we took full advantage starting with a long walk around the lake and finishing it off with dinner outdoors, a romp through our favorite splash pad, and a stop for ice cream in our pajamas on the way home. It was a good day. | A P R I L 2 0 1 1
 Your First Haircut
a n e i g h b o r h o o d | You usually don't tolerate people messing with you very well, but you were surprisingly OK with your first haircut! You sat very still while she used the razor. You weren't quite as cooperative for the scissors, but you did great. You looked like such a big boy when she was done! | APRIL 2011
EASTER | One of our favorite Easter traditions - dyeing eggs! You "helped" for a bit, but eventually found a bowl of water & a measuring cup to be far more entertaining! | a p r i l 2 0 1 1 | Your first Easter egg hunt! I'd love you say that you had a ball, but you really didn't have much interest in participating. You were ready for breakfast, and once you discovered your sister's basket full of eggs, you decided not to bother with the hunting for them anywhere else. | an "egg-ceptional"
After the last eggs had been found, we finished off a fun weekend with a trip to church, a yummy lunch, and some much need naps. Our holidays are so special because we get to share them with you! | We spent the weekend at JoJo and Pops' house. We blew bubbles, boiled crawfish, and played in the sprinkler. You kept it all sorts of classy. | You weren't feeling very cooperative for Easter photos.
 P R I N G | shenanigans | the joy of watching you enjoy all that spring brings | S
Popsicles, basketball, trips to the park. Loving on Lucy, splash pads, and art. Crawfish, picnics, & really high swings - these were the things that you loved this spring!
AQUARIUM | mother's day at the | My Mother's Day was perfect because I got to spend it with you visiting the Houston Aquarium for the very first time. I am the luckiest mom in the world.

o n e a n d a h a l f. | ( y o u k e e p u s o n o u r t o e s , L i t t l e M o n k e y ) | At the halfway point between one and two, you love playing outside, going to the swimming pool, splashing in the sink, and romping around with Lucy. You get in to everything, you are very loud, and your fuse is as short as they come. Your favorite game is hide and seek, and you firmly believe that if you don't make eye contact with the person who is looking for you that you are very well hidden. You hate to be held, to have your hand held, or to be confined in any way. You do not like to be told no, and you get frustrated with us when we don't understand what "this" or "I want that" means. You inflict giant messes upon our home on a daily basis, but we love you to pieces and often think how boring our life would be without you in it.

w e l o v e o u r | little gymnast | Gymnastics class for you this summer was like many things lately - some days you loved it and some days you hated it. You didn't really hate it, you just preferred to move from apparatus to apparatus at your own pace and not per the coach's instruction. Luckily, you decided to love it the day Mommy brought her camera to class.

Fun at the Pool | a summer of fun with our little tadpole...
You loved going to the swimming pool this summer. We quickly learned that you were most happy visiting the pools with slides just your size. You hated all of our floats. You hated to be held in the big pool. You mostly just wanted to slide. From the very start, you were fearless going down, and it didn't take long for you to figure out how to catch your footing at the bottom, wade to the edge, climb out, and then pitter patter back around to the ladder to do it all over again. We love you and had so much fun this summer!
@4th of July at LaCenterra - Cinco Ranch - Katy, TX
Friends, fireworks, and firetrucks - what more could you ask for at a 4th of July celebration? After a day at the pool but long before dark, we met up with some of our friends at LaCenterra. You had so much fun climbing all over the big red firetruck. Soon the time came to find our spot to watch the fireworks. You have never held Mommy more tightly or buried your head more deeply into my neck than you did on this night when the fireworks began.
 f u n a t t h e
In July, the circus came to town! We arrived early so that we could see the animals backstage before the show began. Because we were there early, we also got to play on the circus floor. We tried on costumes, watched the clowns perform, and picked out some souvenirs. Once the show began, you and Avery were mesmerized! You got a little nervous during some of the really loud parts...but nothing that a lollipop and some snuggles with Daddy couldn't fix! | s e p t e m b e r ' 1 0 | july 2011
Beach Club | The Cinco Ranch | We didn't make it to the real beach this summer, but that's OK - our neighborhood has a man made beach that met our needs just fine. You loved playing in sand and going back and forth between the water and the shore. You also loved that because the water was shallow, you could wade around in the pool all on your own. Now that we know you love it, we will definitely make a trip to the "real" beach next year!

One special weekend in July, while Avery was off visiting Pops and JoJo, we got to spend two whole days with just you. You got a little taste of being an "only child", and to say that you loved it would be an understatement. You were so happy all weekend long to have our undivided attention. We went to Ritter's for frozen custard. We went to the pool. We went out to dinner. And while you thoroughly enjoyed all of these things, your favorite part of the whole weekend was probably having control of the TV remote. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. We sure do love you!
Just another Friday night... | It started out like so many Friday nights. We ventured out to the street after dinner. Being the middle of July, the sprinkler, splash pool, and sand box weren't far behind. And soon enough, little friends and big friends alike from up an down the street began to gather.
You, your sister, and your friends played round and round from splash pool to sand box to sprinkler and back again. And this night, like so many others, without any planning at all, turned into an all evening block party. You were one happy, grimy kid when bedtime came. | J U L Y 2 0 1 1
CHILDREN'S MUSEUM | Our adventures at the Houston
The Children's Museum of Houston is one of our favorite places to visit. There is so much to do that we are never able to take it all in on one visit. You love exploring all that the Tot Spot area has to offer, and this year, for the very first time, you got to explore the Water Works area too! You loved splashing in the water (and drinking the water) and making a big, wet mess outside where nobody cared! It is a joy to see different exhibits catch your eye and to watch you explore them and figure them out all on your own. You are getting to be such a big boy!
trouble | You keep us on our toes, Little Man. You are a climber, a jumper, and a dumper, and you have a knack for immersing yourself into whatever you are NOT supposed to get in to. The messes you are able to make in a matter of minutes are actually quite impressive. And often, the messes that you make while Mommy or Daddy are distracted cleaning up the first mess are even more impressive. You are our little monkey, and we love you so much...but you sure can be exhausting! | nothing but

First Day of School | Oh, Brady. You were not excited to start school. Your resistance started at home. You wanted nothing to do with your backpack for first day photos. It continued once we arrived at school. You were initially intrigued by your classroom, but that interest disappeared when you realized that Mommy and Daddy were saying good-bye. Your teachers said you cried a lot that first day. And for the several days that followed, you claimed one corner in your classroom as your own. You did not let anyone hold you, you did not participate, you did not eat your lunch or a snack, and you did not come out of your corner. For you not to eat took some willpower because you love food! It took about 3 weeks, but you eventually came around, and now, you actually love school! Whew!

TO THE ZOO | Always one of our favorite places to VISIT, the Zoo did not disAppoint this year. We didn't Make it there as often as we usually do due to the long, hot summer, but that just made our few trips all the more special. THE opening of the african forest provided some new adventures for us at the zoo this year.
YOur favorite new addition was the giraffe feeding platform. You DIDN't HESITate one bit when you fed the big giraffe a piece of lettuce straight from your hand into his (or her) mouth. The chimpanzees were also very entertaining on our visits. one of them really liked you! He gave you high fives through the observation window!
f u n t i m e s a t t h e | playground | You are happy when you are outside, but you are happiest when you are outside at a playground. You love to swing, to climb, and to slide. Over the last year, you have grown from the tiny babe happily hanging out in the baby swing to one of the "big kids" running all over the place and trying out everything in sight. We love "park days" and so do you!
FORT BEND COUNTY FAIR | Your first snow cone and your first funnel cake all in one day! What treats those were to you! You enjoyed riding the ferris wheel and the carousel and visiting the baby ducks and chicks in the petting zoo too. You were a trooper hanging out in the wagon while Avery rode several other rides. At the rate you're growing, I have no doubt that you will be tall enough to join her next year!

One day in October while Avery was in school. you and Mommy took a special trip to Dewberry Farm. It isn't often that we are able to have adventures like this all on our own. We met up with some of our friends from playgroup and had a fun filled morning. We got to see and pet several animals. We took a hayride to the pumpkin patch where you enjoyed kicking and tossing the pumpkins about. After a picnic lunch with your friends, we finished the day off on the inflated pillow pad where you jumped and bounced your heart out. It was such a fun day! | o c t o b e r 2 0 1 1

One of our favorite fall traditions is our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. We know that each year when we make this trek that the holiday season has truly begun. 75: halloween happenings | There were so many fun activities this October that helped to fill our days leading up to Halloween! You loved painting pumpkins again this year. And while you wanted nothing to do with helping Daddy to clean out and carve pumpkins, you LOVED eating the seeds with Mommy afterward. We attended a Halloween themed music class that started out well enough, but ended up with you in the corner refusing to participate in the teacher led activities and songs. Oh well. At least your buddy, Asher, kept you company. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - holidays are so much more fun when we get to share them with you!
trick or treat? | HALLOWEEN 2011 | You were a cowboy who did not want to wear his hat, and once we figured that out, we had a great time trick or treating with you for the very first time!

You have slept with them every night and every nap since. You drag these little guys all through the house and always go grab them from your crib when you are getting sleepy or just need something to comfort you. They are your best pals. | V E R Y , V E R Y M U C H .

 you and your friends
Sister | - a n d - | Brother | You and Avery have such fun together...most of the time. Your relationship has had more highs & lows this year than last, but that is to be expected now that you are on the go, in to all of her stuff, & competing with her for attention, toys, snacks, & the TV remote. You want to be just like your big sister. You look up to her so much, and she can make you laugh like no other. She loves you to pieces. It is a treat to watch your relationship with your big sister grow & strengthen each & every day.

A few of Brady's | lollipops | You are addicted to lollipops, my boy. Several times each day, you take one of us to the pantry by hand and point up to the candy jar on the top shelf and say "that!" You throw a fit if we are out in public and we forget to bring some lollipops along. This is a habit we will eventually have to break, but for now if they make you happy, they make us happy! | Lucy | You are a little boy who loves his dog. You don't talk much yet, but you do say "Luce" whenever she crosses your path. She is very good with you. She lets you pull her tail, climb all over her, and give her hugs. What a sweet bond the two of you have! | washing your hands | playing outside | No matter how grouchy you may be, I can always win you over by taking you outside to play. The front yard, the back yard, the park, it doesn't matter. If you are outside, you are happy! | I've never known a kid to like washing his hands as much as you do. You love turning the faucet on and off, dispensing the soap, splashing your hands in the water, and soaking the hand towel. While cleanliness may not be your ultimate goal, you have fun and so we let you go for it...most of the time! | push car | While this was actually your sister's toy first, you have claimed it as your own. Even Avery now calls it "Brady's car." And she knows better than to mess with it! You love to cruise the block round and round and round again. You will only let Mommy or Daddy push you in it, and you throw a fit when we turn back into the driveway to come home after one of our walks.
Favorite Things... | bounce houses | feeding the ducks | mickey mouse | puzzles | It is only recently that we figured out how much you love bounce houses. You are often hesitant to try new things or join in with big groups of kids, but this is not the case at bounce houses! You jump, run, climb, slide, and squeal...alot! You have so much fun! | Just like your sister at this age, you get a kick out of feeding the ducks at the lakes around our neighborhood. You get really excited and start saying "duck duck" as soon as you see or hear them. Your belly laugh as you toss bread and watch them waddle around is infectious. | You are my little TV junkie. When you wake up each morning, you go first to the refrigerator for milk, then immediately to the couch for the remote. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is one of your favorite shows and we wake up with watching it almost every day! | Of all the toys in our playroom, you are drawn most often to the puzzles. While you like to have someone sit with you while you work them, you prefer to put them together all on your own. You are really good at them and it makes us happy to see your little mind at work as you figure out how to make the pieces fit just right! | duck duck, dog, & paci | Even though these guys got their very own page in the book, they deserve to be mentioned one more time here as well because they, above all other things, are your favorites.
