LeBron | V | In 1996 a new star was rising in the NBA his name was Kobe Bryant. Many people thought he was undoubtedly the best player in the NBA. Then in 2003 a new player named LeBron James came into the picture. For years now there has been controversy surrounding these two players and their abilities. With both players demonstrating amazing talent and the stats to prove it, it makes the choice Lebron James or Kobe Bryant almost impossible.
 S. | Kobe | LeBron James was born on December 30, 1984 in Akron, Ohio. He quickly became well known across the country, in his sophomore year in high school scouts where already contemplating James playing in the NBA. As many people expected, in James’ senior year he announced he would be in the 2003 NBA Draft.
At the time the Cleveland Cavaliers were the worst team in the NBA, but their luck changed in the 2003 draft they took LeBron James. In his rookie season he showed everyone what he was capable of. He averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. He was named rookie of the year, and up to this date he has won 2 MVP titles, had 7 All-star Game appearances, was the scoring champion in 2008, and won the All-star game MVP twice. He is currently in his seventh season in the NBA; it is his first season with the Miami Heat.
Kobe Bryant was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1978. His father Joe Bryant was a former NBA player. In 1984 when Kobe’s father ended his NBA career he took the family to Italy, to play in the Italian league. When the Bryants returned to Philadelphia in 1991 he played for his high school team at Lower Marion. He led them to 4 straight state championships. He also started training with the local NBA team the 76ers. When Kobe was 19 he entered the NBA draft. He was picked by Charlotte, but was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant has won 5 NBA Championship titles, NBA Finals MVP twice, league MVP in 2008, 13 All-Star game appearances, 2 time NBA scoring champion, 4 time All-Star game MVP, and NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner in 1997. He continues to play with the Los Angeles Lakers in his 14th NBA season.
As you can see both players have shown amazing abilities and statistics. As they continue in their journeys in the NBA even with both of their ages growing they continue to display talent beyond belief. As long as these two players are around the question will remain Lebron or Kobe?
Black and White | By Paul Volponi
This book was written by teen author Paul Volponi.. It takes place in Long Island, New York. It tells the story of an interesting situation two friends go through in high school. The main characters are Eddie Russo and Marcus Brown; they are best friends and the school’s star basketball players.
They have gone through a lot together especially being made fun of because of racial differences. A problem in the book arises when the boys need to pay their senior dues in order to go on all the fun trips they take with their school.
They had all the money they needed saved up, then Nike came out with a new line of basketball shoes and they spent it all on the “Nike Marauders”. That is when they first have the idea of using Eddie's dead grandfather's gun to rob innocent people.
They start off fine robbing people all the time, as they get more confident they even rob people in broad daylight. Then one day they approach a car and as usual Eddie holds the gun while Marcus talks, when the man refuses Eddie accidentally fires the gun and hits the man in the head.
They both flee the scene before any police arrive. Follow these two high school boys through their ups and downs. Find out if they make it out as friends or even make it out at all.
This is a fantastic book that demonstrates racial tension, the love for basketball, the consequences of breaking the law, and if a friendship, no matter how strong can last.

The Miami Heat are quite a spectacle this season in the NBA. They recently added a few important players to their roster. LeBron James and Chris Bosh have both "taken their talents to South Beach”. This new team line-up created a great debate between basketball fans, will the team be better or will they crash and burn. | The Miami Heat
They had a rocky start but as the season progressed they have proven to be a force to reckon with. Their current record is 57 wins 24 loses, they fall in second place in the eastern conference behind the Boston Celtics. The latest news is that they signed point guard Mike Bibby. Now with their new roster and amazing coaching staff they are the top competitors in the league.
Many people have questioned and criticized LeBron James for coming to Miami, but as he stated before he wants to win a championship, obviously LeBron believes the Heat can do it. Their starting line-up consists of point guard; Mario Chalmers who consistently makes 3-Point shots as well as defensive efforts. Then at shooting guard; Dwyane Wade who is above the league average in scoring at 25.5 points per game, assists at 4.6 assists per game, and steals at 1.46 per game.
Then at small forward; LeBron James, he has been an extremely important piece in the Miami Heat puzzle. LeBron is above average in all aspects of the game; he is 6’8”, 250lbs and can shoot from almost anywhere!
Then at power forward they have Chris Bosh who has just joined the team this season. Bosh is above the league average in scoring, rebounds, and assists. Finally at center they have Zydrunas Ilgaukas a 7’3” player that provides the height this Miami team needs. These five players plus the various bench players make up a very strong team, just another reason why they could win the NBA Championship.
Another reason to believe The Heat will excel in the playoffs is their great coaching staff. Their head coach Erik Spoelstra is currently in his third season with the Miami Heat, but his sixteenth year with the Heat organization. In his first season as head coach he led the young Heat team to break the record for the greatest single-season improvement. Then in his second season he earned the Eastern Conference NBA Coach of the Month.
This defensive coach also helped the team to the fewest field goals in the league at 2,813. Spoelstra has continued to work with the Miami Heat Summer League, as well as working with younger players on his roster on skills and shooting. It was also said that he even used technology to help players learn by putting video plays on their iPods. While attending college at Portland he played starting point guard for four straight years, he also was awarded with West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year. So far this season he has done a great job at managing the new additions to the Heat team, their current record is 57 wins 24 losses.
With the playoffs sill ahead this season James, Wade, and Bosh must continue to play phenomenally. Their coach must continue to display a great understanding of the game. With the combined efforts of everyone from coaches to players I believe this is the season Miami will win the Championship.

Pat Riley started his career as a professional basketball and football player he was selected in the 1967 draft by the San Diego Rockets, as well as the Dallas Cowboys. Then after three years with the Rockets he was moved to the Portland Trailblazers, but was then immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Surprisingly Pat Riley is regarded as a great player and an amazing coach. He is currently the Miami Heat's Team President. In 1976 Pat Riley retired as a player, but he was not done in the NBA. He came back the following year in 1977 as a broadcaster for the Los Angeles Lakers. In the Lakers' 1979-80 season head coach Jack McKinney was injured in an extremely bad bike accident. The current assistant coach Paul Westhead took over as head coach and promoted Riley to an assistant coach.Later in the 1981-82 season Earvin "Magic" Johnson said he wanted a trade because he didn't want to play for Westhead. Immediately after this statement the team owner Jerry Buss fired Westhead and tried to make Jerry West the head coach. | Pat Riley
Jerry West declined the offer and insisted that Pat Riley should be head coach and himself his assistant. So this became Pat Riley's first head coach experience. In his first season Riley led the Lakers to the NBA Finals and beat the Philadelphia 76ers. The following year both the 76ers and the Lakers returned to the Finals but the 76ers beat the Lakers four games in a row. in 1985 the Lakers won the Finals again, and they won yet again in 1987. After their victory in 1987 Riley promised fans and the players a repeat championship. Just as he said the Lakers came back to the Finals in 1988 and won it all again!
In 1990 Riley stepped down as the coach after the team lost to Phoenix in the playoffs, he was then named Coach of the Year. After he left the Lakers he became a commentator for NBC, he only kept this job for a year. After that he became the New York Knicks head coach. In the 1993 season he helped his team get the best regular season record in team history. That same year he also attained his second Coach of the Year award. With his team Riley went to the 1994 Finals but lost to the Houston Rockets. After his relatively short time with the Knicks Riley started a new adventure with the Miami Heat.
In the 1995 season the Heat did not make it far, they were swept by the Chicago Bulls. Then in 1997 Riley and the Heat conquered his old team the New York Knicks. They advanced to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals but the heat were just not good enough for Michael Jordan. even though they lost Pat Riley got his third Coach of the Year award. The Heat hit a bad spot in their history from 1998-2002, in which Riley stated he was going to "fire himself". Shockingly enough in the 2003 season Riley did step down. Assistant coach Stan Van Gundy took over, he had a fresh slate with the Heat acquiring rookie Dwyane Wade. The Heat made it to the playoffs but lost quickly. Riley then made a huge move by trading three players to the Lakers for one of the best players in the league Shaquille O'Neal! Even with the new line-up the team again fell short in the playoffs. In 2005 Stan Van Gundy retired "to spend more time with family".So again Riley had to coach. He led the Heat the Finals and finally won against the Dallas Mavericks!
In 2008 Riley retired as the head coach and announced that Erik Spoelstra Would take over his job. Riley is a coaching icon. Many coaches strive to do what he did but few can even come close. He was a six time NBA Champion as a coach, was awarded Coach of the Year three times, and is considered in the Top 10 Coaches in NBA History. Pat Riley has truly left a mark on this game, both on the court and on the sidelines as a coach.

One Thursday April, 7, 2011 Gloria Marie James was arrested for assaulting a parking valet. The mother of NBA superstar LeBron James was arrested because of an altercation at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. The victim was a hotel parking valet, Sorel Rockfeller was assaulted because the car was taking too long. He claims to have been waiting for 30 minutes for James and when he gave her the keys she started cursing at him. | LeBron James' Mother Arrested
You have to move forward," LeBron commented on the subject "It is my life, and it is certain things you have to deal with, but like I said, I try not to let it be a distraction.I have a job that I have to do still, at the end of the day." LeBron then went on to say "You guys want to ask me anything else about basketball, I'm happy to answer it." Obviously LeBron wants to focus on his job as a player. We wish him and the Heat the best in their playoff run.
