For a weekend in the spring, Erin, Gracelyn, Andrew, and I went to visit Shenyang, a city 2 hours away by train. It was our first train experience! We had a blast. It was also our first time venturing out of Changchun by ourselves, no veterans or Chinese friends to guide us. We reveled in the freedom, rejoiced at the American food, and as a whole thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

In April, we went to visit Qingdao and Huangdao. This area was a potential place for us to move the following year. We visited several campuses, the beach (suburbia!), and tasted local fare.

Andrew's birthday coincided with the May holiday, so we took advantage of the time and visited Dalian, a city on the coast. Andrew's cousin Alecia came over from Seoul to spend some time with us, and Jenny came on the trip with us as well.

Couples dinner dates with our friends were a frequent occasion ~ a May Day picnic or a fiesta on Cinco de Mayo for example. Mario & Kara, Keith & Rachel, Darren & Poppy.

And there was always time with Erin & Gracelyn, our officemates. | From eating out (or in) together, to going on adventures, to watching TV and shoving our faces with popcorn, we were always doing something fun together. | Jing Yue Tan | Erin's birthday
