HOME | IS WHEREVER WE ARE, BUT WE CURRENTLY LIVE IN | Thank you for opening our book, but more importantly thank you for opening your heart to adoption! If you would have told us 5 years ago, we'd be putting together an adoption profile for you to consider, we would have said you were crazy. But somehow it feels like we are in the exact right place at the right time --like it was always meant to be. Regardless of how your story unfolds, you are strong, selfless and brave. You will change your child's life and create a family for someone who couldn't make one on their own, so you pretty much rock! If you are nervous or scared, please know that you are not alone. We feel the same, but have faith that whatever was meant to happen, will. Our life is full of love, laughter, family, friends and fun with plenty of room for children in any size, shape or color. We are truly committed to being exceptional parents to your child and will help he or she become whoever they are meant to be in this world. We have a really blessed life and are more than ready to share it. We smiled a lot when we put this book together and we hope you do too. Good luck! May your heart always be full knowing that you created a family. Sincerely, Jenn Steve | Hello

M < | Meet Jenn | Past I am from Chicago, IL, where I grew up happily in the suburbs with my sister, parents and various pets. I beat cancer when I was 3 so I grew up believing I was a super hero. My fave childhood memories are water parks, vacation Bible school and YMCA camp outs with my dad. I am lucky to still be friends with people I grew up with. I met Steve my senior year of college and haven't stopped smiling since. He helps me be the best version of myself. Present I have a strong marriage, quality group of friends and supportive family. I work for the USO, helping troops and their families. I get to meet celebrities like Blake Shelton and the people who serve our country. I am the organizer in my group so I plan a lot of outings and theme parties. There is not much a long walk and a good play list can't get me through. I love to listen to music, to read, to go to the movies and to predict who will win the Oscars. I take writing classes and publish a blog pretty frequently. Future I picture a future full of laughter, surrounded by kids grandkids and the patchwork of people I am lucky enough to call family. I look forward to creating new traditions like family vacations, Taco Tuesdays and camping trips, whatever the kids love to do. I hope to move back to Chicago one day and hopefully retire somewhere warm. | MUSIC-Taylor Swift, The Civil Wars, Coldplay, U2, Bruce Spring- steen, The Weepies, Blake Shelton, Pink, Fun, Phoenix | FOOD: | APPS-Words with Friends, Instagram, American Airlines, Pandora | TV SHOWS-The Vampire Diaries, Parenthood, Homeland | SPORTS-TO PLAY-Volleyball TO WATCH-College football, gymnastics | SCRIPTURE: Phillippians 4:13, | FOOD-Tacos, BBQ Potato chips, grapes (green!) piszza, baked potatoes, pickles, sloppy joes, muenster cheese

Meet Steve | FOOD-Tacos, sweet potatoes and BBQ potato chips, spinach dip | Past I was born in Ohio, but my parents split up so my mom and I moved to Chicago when I was 4yrs old. We lived across the street from my Grandparents almost my whole life. They were a very big part of my life and were my role models. Present We live in Dallas right now. We moved here for my job. I run a steel distribution plant with about 40 employees. I love my job, my team, and the city but I know we will move back to Chicago at some point so we can be closer to our families. I’ve worked hard to strike a nice work-life balance. I have a relatively demanding job but don’t let it take over my life. I’m a hard worker but I don’t work a lot of hours and try to be home as much as possible especially now that we are in a new city and Jenn works from home. I love to cook for Jenn and do so most nights. I try to stay in shape and get to the gym in the morning (5:30am, ugh!) about four times a week. Okay maybe more like two but I’m trying. Future I’ve always envisioned our lives filled with children and friends. We’ll live in that big house that everyone feels comfortable stopping by. It will have a fireplace that is going even when it’s not that cold. We’ll always have a packed fridge and pantry and I will jump at the chance to whip up a meal for our visitors. Jenn and I will be active in our children’s lives and the community. I have no real dreams of keeping up with the Jones’ and having tons of stuff. I just want to create a world where my wife, family, and children feel at ease and taken care of.

jenn | according to steve | Jenn’s a lot of things. She’s a brilliant writer, someone who always knows the perfect way to say even the simplest things so they become important, thought-provoking, and even poetic. She’s a fun-loving aunt, one that makes kids burst out the door cheering before the car even comes to rest in the driveway. She’s a successful fundraiser, a real professional who is passionate about her job because she is passionate about her cause. She’s raised money for new YMCAs, battered children, education, and military veterans. She’s a caring friend, the friend who never forgets your birthday or anniversary, the friend who will drive an hour to see you for ten minutes, the friend who will know exactly when to call and talk and when to give you space. She’s a wonderful wife, a woman who knows how to make me feel like a man without pandering to my ego, a girl who makes nervous because she’s so darn cute, and a best friend who knows how to take the weight off my shoulders just before I crumble. She’s a lot of things. None of them are as important to her as the things she will become. She will be an even better writer, aunt, fundraiser, mom, friend, wife and more. She will be even better because she works at it. She’s the only person I know who really tries to be a better person every day. That’s what makes Jenn special. She’s the best wife, friend, aunt.that anyone could ask for but she never takes you or any relationship for granted. She treasures her family and friends. She treasures me. Jenn’s a lot of things. | I was really proud when my sister, Kathy, asked Jenn to be the godmother of her first child. | Yeah, she's that fun.

steve | on jenn | on jenn | according to jenn | There are some people that are just larger than life--Steve is one of them. Everyone loves him, especially kids. He is funny, really witty actually. Very passionate, like when he loves something, he really, really loves it. He has his MBA and is super smart, but never makes you feel stupid if you need him to explain something to you 3 or 4 times, like our taxes. He is caring in a way I honestly didn't know he had in him. When I ran a half-marathon, he was my biggest fan and carried a backpack full of stuff I might need the whole race in case something happened. He's also totally good looking, but I am not sure what that has to do with him being a good dad? But, he will be. A good dad. A great dad actually. You can tell by the way he gets down on his knees whenever a child is around and spends time really talking to them and finding out what they like. He is the biggest hit at our annual picnic and birthday parties. People look up to him and so do I. He is a great son, brother, uncle and even better husband.I feel safe, loved and taken care of everyday and I am a better person because he is my husband. I am very lucky he chose me. | Steve giving the most touching best man toast ever at his sister's wedding in Hawaii. | Steve reading Cinderella (and even doing the voices!) to his goddaughter Ava.

I've always pictured Steve as a father, because in a way he was a father to me. He was always there, supporting me, even when he was a child himself. It was like he was born to play that role. -Kathy, Steve's younger sister | As a friend, Jenny is so many things, fun, generous, thoughtful, and puts others needs above her own! All of the same qualities that will make her an AMAZING MOM! -Lisa, friend since high school | What our people say... | Jenny & Steve will be great parents because they totally get life isn't a spectator sport. 14: Our Home We live on a sweet tree-lined street in the historic district of downtown Dallas, walking distance from many parks and schools. Our house is really large and right off o peaceful walking path, full of strollers and puppies looking to make new friends. We can also walk to most of the children's museums. Day-to-Day Life Steve works about 20 minutes from our house and spends time at the local gym, where he does CrossFit. Jenn works from home and often hosts book club. She is hoping to join th local playgroup soon! We eat dinner out about twice a week and Steve cooks the other nights. Our Community We have a great support system and are active with our alumni association and spend time volunteering and planning events. Two couples in our group also chose adoption to start their families. We hang out at our neighbor's homes and often end the night with a Wii tournament with their kids. We are members of a local country club that has great kiddie pools and many programs for kids of all ages, including infants. We entertain quite a bit and believe people feel very comfortable in our home. Our area of Dallas is very family friendly and there are numerous groups, activities and events designed for new families.

We are often heard saying, 'we reserve the right to change our mind when it comes to how we will parent,' because we believe every child is different and needs and wants different things. Jenn plans to only work two days a week, when a family member will come into our house to provide child care. Education is a priority to both of us and we feel very strongly that it not only provides greater opportunities in life, but allows for critical socialization skills. Play nice in the sandbox and all. We believe our jobs as parents is to help your child become whoever they were meant to be in this life by providing love and self confidence. We believe exposing them to as many aspects of the world as possible will help them figure out who that is. We believe that it's important to keep magic alive in a child's life, while always being honest. We believe becoming parents is a gift and will treat everyday as such. | Thoughts on Parenting
