Forward | My love of all things makeup started when I was a sophomore in high school. I picked up all my knowledge from online beauty blogs, piecing information together. It took a lot of experimenting, but pretty soon I started to get the hang of it. Now, I do makeup for many clients, and have been the lead makeup artist for two theatre performances. In fact, I hope to become a makeup artist after attending college. This book will serve as a shortcut- the thing I needed when I was searching through hundreds of how-tos to learn how to achieve the perfect smokey eye! Inside, you will find step-by-step tutorials for 15 unique looks. I hope this guide causes you to fall in love with makeup as much as I have in the past two years.

A Few Things You Should Know... | Each look is flexible- adapt it to fit your style! | If you mess up- don't stress! Why do you think they invented makeup remover? | "Contouring" is usually done with a bronzer, and means slimming the face. Try contouring under your cheekbones and on your temples. | Filling in your eyebrows with a pencil gives a more dramatic appearance, while brow powder looks more natural. | A tinted moisturizer is the lowest coverage of foundation you can get, while a full coverage foundation will really cover your skin. | Blend, Blend, Blend! | Skincare is very important, so make sure you apply a good facial moisturizer before you start your makeup. | Makeup is only skin deep- make sure you have the confidence to wear it!

Date Night Apply a medium coverage foundation down the center of your face Lightly dust your face with a powder Using a creamy brown pencil, apply along the lash line, concentrating on the outer portion of the eye Blend out the pencil with a dense brush Use a black eyeliner pencil to line the top water line Also smudge the black pencil very close along the top and bottom lash line With a flat eye shadow brush, apply a light shimmering shadow to the brow bone and inner corners of the eye Apply mascara Lightly contour your cheeks with a matte bronzer Apply a peachy, pink blush to the apples of the cheeks Moisturize your lips with lip balm and apply a neutral gloss | Tip: By smudging out your eye pencil, you are creating a soft, romantic look

Sunset Eyes | Apply a medium to full coverage foundation to the face Contour the cheeks with an orange toned bronzer With a gold toned highlight, apply to the tops of the cheekbones and the inner corners of the eye With a dark orange eye shadow, apply in the crease with a fluffy brush On top of the orange, apply a warm toned brown with the same brush and blend well With a gold shade, place on the middle of the lid using a flat brush Using a brown eye pencil, line the bottom water line and lash line Apply a thick coat of mascara Finish with a nude lip gloss | Tip: In this case, the highlighter serves to bring out both the cheekbones and brighten the eyes

Vamp | Apply a medium to full coverage foundation all over the face Set with a loose powder Use a small amount of bronzer to contour Using a black gel liner or black cream shadow and a flat shadow brush, apply in upwards motions from the lash line Using a fluffy brush, blend out all edges With a dense pencil brush, apply the same cream shadow to the lower lash line Apply a black kohl liner to the upper and lower water line Apply a thick coat of mascara to top and bottom lashes Using a red lip stick, apply to your lips with a lip brush | Tip: By using a lip brush, you can define the lips precisely
