2: Mesopotamia River Valley | Mesopotamia is the oldest river valley of all four. | It is located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
3: Cuneiform is the written language of Mesopotamia. | A ziggurat is a holy temple and also a government building. | They believe in many gods, they were polytheistic.
4: The Nile river valley is next to the Nile river in Egypt. They used pyramids for tombs for the pharaohs as they died and awaited their "afterlife".
5: Nile River Valley | They used papyrus as paper. They wrote by hieroglyphics. Pharaohs ruled as kings, and were seen and treated as a god.
6: The Indus river valley is between the Indus and Ganges Rivers. The Himalaya's are to the north of the river valley. | They had river flooding and also had monsoon's, or seasonal winds that bring dry air and rain.
7: Indus River Valley | They had their own written language but historians cannot understand it so we know little about this river valley. | The Indus river valley had the first plumbing and sewage system.
8: Silk was very popular in the China River Valley. | They were polytheistic, believed in many gods, and are very big on family honor. They believe your ancestors can bring you blessing or curses. They saw their culture as center of the civilized world.
9: China River Valley | The China river valley is located between the Yellow, or Huang He, river and the Yangtze river in China.
