FC: GRANT WOOD'S AMERICAN GOTHIC

1: Grant Wood was born in 1891 to Hattie Weaver and Francis Wood. In 1913 Grant and his family moved to Chicago where he went to take decorative arts and also joined the U.S Army.In the 1920's Wood earned some fame in his local community.

2: In 1930 he won a medal at the annual exhibition of the Art Institute of Chicago for his painting American Gothic. | He has 19 art exhibitions. He has over 20 art collections. In 1941 he was awarded honorary degrees from Northwestern University and Wesleyan University. He was appointed Full Professor of Fine Arts at UI. On February 12 1942 Grant Wood died of liver cancer.
