Green Harbor Marshfield, Massachusetts August 2010 Our annual vacation with Nana
The House, 37 Bay Avenue The house was huge! There was a lovely patio out back and an outdoor shower on the side. There were views of the ocean from the second and third floors. The beach was a walk across the street between two houses. The house was on a corner of a dead end road that led to the marshes. It was the perfect beach house for all of us!
The Beach, Green Harbor We were right on the line between Burke's Beach and Duxbury Beach so who knows where we actually were! It's all beautiful! At high tide, the waves would come up to the cement wall. At low tide, you could walk a mile before the water would hit your waist. The waves were pretty gentile and the water a bit cold but always just right for us!
The General Store Every vacation to Green Harbor requires several trips to the General Store for penny candy! The kids made three trips this time around!
Other Yummies This vacation also requires several trips to the Lobster Pound for lobsta and fried seafood. And then we have to get ice cream for dessert of course!
Friends & Family We had plenty of company on this trip. Nana's girlfriends came up for the day. Uncle Ray brought Anne and Rere for a day. Then Terese came up with the boys for a few days.
Everyone made it to the beach while they were there, including Rere! The grown-ups had many cocktails and the kids played hard on the beach and at the house. A good time was had by all!
A day at the beach with our friends
The kids spent a lot of time jumping the waves and playing in the sand. They all got along great and had such a good time together! In the last picture, little Aidan is so proud of himself after burying Jeff's feet in the sand. Had I known he would be that excited, I would have told him to bury ALL of Jeff in the sand!
riding SCOOTERS The house was on the corner of a dead end road abutting the marsh lands. It was the perfect place to ride scooters or bikes. Aidan and Zoe rode their scooters almost everyday at some point. At the end of the day, there would be lots of kids hanging out here to play with. Zoe and Aidan made a few new friends here and so did we!
 building with SAND
 enjoying the WAVES
searching for beach TREASURES | Aidan left no stone unturned in his search for crabs, dead or alive, for his crab castle! Zoe was interested in hermit crabs for her hermit crab condo, which included a pool and a hot tub!
There is a lot of space to fly a kite at the beach so we gave it a try. Unfortunately, the wind was crazy that day going in every direction. Aidan tried to fly his shark kite but gave up in frustration. Zoe did pretty good with her kite for a while. Daddy, on the other hand, was desperate to get Aidan's shark kite flying. He spent a lot of time and effort to get it up in the air, for a few minutes anyway, and finally admitted defeat! It was a great try daddy! | flying KITES
 trying to RELAX
loving FAMILY | All in all, we had another wonderful vacation in Green Harbor, thanks to Nana. We had tons of fun, visited with old friends and made some new friends as well, and had plenty of relaxation. Can't wait to do it again next year!
The houses on the water at Green Harbor are protected by a cement wall. At high tide on some portions of the beach, the waves come right up and crash against the wall. The kids were fascinated by this!
