5: Day 1 | The pool at our resort

6: Off to CostCo for food shopping for week | Lots of Lava Rock | and goats | Day 2

7: Snorkeling on beach at complex | Day 2

8: Frank swimming laps | The pool at the complex | Day 2 | The view from the pool

9: Day 2 | Work out with Frank | Dinner at the condo

10: Day 3 | Snorkeling at Two Step

11: Day 3 | It was awesome!

12: The annual cultural festival was the weekend we were there | Day 3

13: We made baskets, water jugs out of gourds, wove bracelets and learned about the Hawaiian culture | Day 3

15: Day 3 | Rick enjoying the day | Ranger Frank

16: Day 3 | We drove to Mauna Kea Observatory | ... and saw some interesting things on the way

17: Day 3 | At the observatory we ate a packed dinner, and then climbed to see the sunset | We looked through telescopes to see the stars | Frank and Patrick at the top

18: Day 4 | Tetzners headed to airport to pick up Richard (they checked out some beaches along the way)

19: Day 4 | Martins explored the Hilton and the petroglyphs

20: Day 4 | Met up with some people from home. They shared their experiences of living on a farm and working in Hawaii. They loved the home cooked meals and hot showers.

21: Day 5 | Volcano Day | First we had to drive to the other side of the island. The roads are wind and long, but the view is beautiful. | Day 5

22: Day 5 | Before heading to the top, we took a guided tour by the visitor center. | Rick was ready. | The weather was not cooperating

23: Day 5 | Up to the crater - no lava, but lots of steam

24: Day 5 | Halema'uma'u Crater

25: Day 5

26: Day 5 | The museum at the Halema'uma'u Crater. We tried to see how we could jump and move the seismograph machine

27: Day 5 | We drove down the volcano to see the petroglyphs. We stopped along the way to see team vents. The weather was not cooperating all day.

28: The view driving down to the pertrogyphs was beautiful./We stopped along the way to take pictures. | Day 5

30: The petrogylphs. .7 mile walk across lava rock to see them, .7 mile walk back to car and rain. Some teenagers were NOT happy. But, we made a lot of fun memories. | Day 5 | And in the middle of all the lava rock was a praying mantis

31: Windy, rainy petrogiyphs. | Day 5

32: We then drove down to the ocean to see the natural lava bridge. By now the weather was getting to everyone. We were cold and wet, but we weren't going to let it ruin our fun. | Day 5

33: Next stop - Lava Tube | Day 5

34: After we left the lava tubes we decided to find a place to eat, dry off, and warm up and then go back to the top to see the glow from the lava. | Day 5

36: Day 6 | Some went deep sea fishing,

37: Day 6 | while others went to the beach

38: After fishing, everyone ended up at the beach (except for Rick, who was taking a nap at the condo) | Day 6

44: Honolli Paka We enjoyed lunch and fresh coconut | Day 7

48: Malasadas A Hawaiian Donut YUM | Day 7

49: Waipo'o Valley | Day 7

50: Day 7 | Waipo'o Valley was beautiful. However, the driving was a little crazy - thank goodness for 4 wheel drive.

52: Waipo'o Valley had a black sand beach | Day 7

53: Day 7 | During the drive back across the island there was a beautiful sunset

54: Day 8 | Packing lunches for a day of snorkeling and beach fun

55: Day 8 | Mile marker 69

56: After mile marker 69, we drove to a beach just to relax and have fun. | Day 8

57: Here birdie, birdie. Come get some crumbs off of Frank's stomach | Day 8

58: Day 8 | Some head back to the very top of the conservator ...

59: Day 8 | while others walked up to the Hilton.

60: Day 9 | Another day of snorkeling. Back to two step, as well as other places along the way
