Anger is a fiery red. It smells like hot garbage. It tastes like the spiciest pepper. It sounds like an adult screaming at you because you did something wrong. It looks like a volcano exploding. Hayley-Sophomore at CHS 2010 | 5

Telling Tales There are not that many stories that have been told in my family. I wish that there had been a lot more stories being told to everyone, even the adults. | There is a story about Abraham Lincoln that is told at family reunions. When Lincoln was killed, John Wilkes Booth was escaping the theater when a man tried to stop him. That man's last name was Withers, my family's last name. We hope and believe that a member of our family did try to stop Mr. Booth. The Withers family spans back to the 1500s. The Withers moved to America from England somewhere sometime in the late 1600s. Proof that this man may be related to the Withers family. | 6

As Time Goes Bye-Bye The things I want to do before I'm thirty-five is travel the world (or part of it anyway), meet the president (doesn't matter which one it is), go on a treasure hunt, meet distant relatives, graduate high school and college, and become a pharmacist or marine biologist. I want to live an exciting life, for me that would be meeting new people and seeing new places. Things I've said goodbye to already are my deceased family members, old friends, and some sports. | 10

My Own Lists of Lists A. People Who Have Influenced Me People who have influenced me are my dad, all of my grandparents, my mom, fantasy authors, some presidents, singers, famous athletes, historical figures, even some kids at school, and most importantly God. | B. Places That Make Me Happy Places that make me happy are places where it's quiet, like the library and when I'm sitting on the front steps of my house. Other places include the beach, the mountains, church, and theme parks. | D. My Personal Favorites This list includes most music, playing musical instruments, playing and watching sports, spending time with my friends and family, going on vacations, relaxing, reading, going to museums, watching movies, listening and telling jokes, being silly, acting, swimming, going to amusements parks, shopping, and the Bible. | C. Things That Have Moved Me Things, that have moved me are songs, bible verses, movies, and real life events. | 11

Picture This This painting seems to have a LOT of people confused. We ask questions like, is she smiling? Why would Leonardo Da Vinci paint her? And the list goes on and on. In my opinion, I believe that the woman in this painting is smiling. People may disagree with me but most people think differently. Maybe she had bad teeth or something, who knows that's still living today? | Another thing, people think this painting is boring and a waste of time, especially the people that are around the same age as me. But I absolutely adore the painting. It's old and it has a mystery. This makes it interesting for me. | 12

Remembering The Child When I was a child I think that people saw me as a very loud, very energetic child. I interviewed my father. He said that a memorable event he experienced with me was when he taught me and my aunt Madison(same age) how to ride our bikes. He taught us out in the front yard when we were five years old. We didn't really have a problem learning. | 13

Family Influence My family influence comes from my grandfather, Ambers Brittain. He used to look after me on some days after school. We'd share special moments when we would talk to each other about anything and everything. The way he influenced me was how he made so many friends. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was devastated when he passed away when I was only nine years old. I will never forget him and for me, his memory will last forever.

Memorable Event September 26, 2009 our youth group went to Carowinds for Winterfest, or Christian Music Festival. There were at least thirty people that went with us and we all had a great time. | After an exhilarating day filled with riding rollercoasters, taking pictures, and eating great food, we went to the concert. We all rocked hard to Skillet, a Christian rock band. Then were inspired as we listened to Chris Tomlin sing and tell stories about God and how great he is. | 15

My Turn To Brag I'm so smart I make Bill Gates look like an idiot. I can run so fast that cheetahs look like they're going in slow motion. My athletic ability is better than everyone's. I'm so artistic I can recreate the Mona Lisa and it would look better. I'm so musically inclined that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's music sounds like children's music. The End | 16

Rewarding Experiences 1. I was saved in 2008, I am now closer to God and my church family. 2. We went on our Annual Youth Retreat to Ridgecrest in 2010 and I was completely inspired. | 3. Went to a concert in Carowinds in 2009 and listened to the band Skillet up close and personal. Then was awed by Chris Tomlin and his speeches given at the concert, along with his music. | 4. I hit my first home-run at an All-Star softball game in 2005. I got money for it. 5. I learned that good things come to those who wait last year when my friends surprised me with a gift I could never forget. | 17

Poem I was walking down this lonesome road, and I stumbled across a humble abode. I walked inside, and gasped at the sight, this wonderful home, it had seemed awfully slight. The inside was grand, so large and not right. This building had magic, that seemed to make sense. And whoever made this was the farthest from dense. I realized quickly, I must get this on film! I took out my camera and pushed past the pilm. I opened a door and saw people saluting, and I quickly confessed that I was intruding. They pardoned me and said I was their leader. To tell who can stay or be tossed in their heater. I wondered in puzzlement, what the heck is a heater? And saw the oven being filled with scared people. I realized just then what they were up to, and sat up and screamed as I had came to. My friend looked at me and said I had hit my head. I must have been dreaming for there was no dread. I laughed at myself for that dream was deranged! My imagination grows so fast its so strange!

Best Vacation The best vacation I've been on with my family is when we went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and drove all the way to Myrtle Beach. After that, we went to visit the USS North Carolina. Then, we rode in a helicopter! | We had a great time, me and my brother. We didn't like the seven hour ride from the mountains to the beach though. We played in the sand and bought many things. Altogether we loved the trip. It was the best vacation I've ever been on. | 23

Learner's Permit This past summer of 2010 is when I got my learner's permit. I passed the test on the first try! But, to get my Driving Eligibility papers, my mom and I had to go all the way to Bessemer City High School. I have been practicing my driving skills with my mom, dad, and stepdad. I am hoping to pass my license test on the first try. | 18

Extraordinary Pet My extraordinary pet was my fish Bubbles. She could swim really fast in her fish bowl and she loved to eat. Unfortunately , one day my dad was taking Bubbles out to clean her bowl. He put her in the small container that holds pet fish while u clean their bowls. Bubbles started swimming really fast in a circle. Then, all of a sudden, she stopped and floated to the top. That was the day my poor fish had suffered from extreme temperatures. We flushed her the next day. I'm getting a new fish. She will be Bubbles II. I will make sure that her life will not be as short as Bubbles I. | 19

Who Am I? Hayley Intelligent, Funny, Energetic, Trustworthy. Sibling of Colton and Ecco. Lover of traveling and jokes. Who feels hyperactice all the time. Who gives humor and love. Who fears snakes, spiders, and bad people. Who would like to see other countries. Resident of Cherryville. Eller | 20

One Suitcase If I could only take one suitcase and I was leaving home forever it would be hard to decided on what to pack. I would take my phone and its charger, of course. I would bring my favorite clothes. | I would also bring pictures of me, my friends, and my family, my camera with extra batteries, and a lot of money. | Just in case, I would bring a flashlight, a poncho, and a travel-sized umbrella for the random occasions I may need them for. | 21

My Best Friend My best friend is Madison Taylor Withers. We've been together since she was born in 1996. The reason we're so close and have been together so long is because she is my aunt. This may sound odd, but when I was born, my grandmother was thirty-eight and three months pregnant with her third child. My mother and Madison are twenty-one years apart. | 24
