FC: Isabella in Training
For my precious niece Isabella with all my love
Once upon a time, in an apartment building in New York City, lived a little girl named Isabella. Isabella was a happy girl, who liked adventures.
 She liked to read
 and hang out at home.
She liked to go for walks
 and play on the swings.
She liked to hang out with her family
 and her friends.
Everything was wonderful, but Isabella had one problem. She could roll onto her tummy, but then, she could not roll onto her back again.
This was very exasperating for Isabella. It was difficult for her Mommy to watch when Isabella got frustrated, and after a few minutes, she would help Isabella return to her back.
When Isabella was about 5 months old, she decided to get tough. She decided to go into training.
She was a really good eater which helped her get bigger and stronger.
She strengthened her back by working on her core in tummytime.
At home, she developed her muscles by sitting in her bumbo.
After exercising, Isabella loved to have a bath and relax.
Sometimes, after a day of all that training, she felt pooped!
When she wasn't exercising, Isabella practiced lying on her back. She practiced and practiced. She visualized what it would be like to do a full turn. With all of Isabella’s efforts, she still hadn't succeeded in turning all the way over! She was feeling pretty discouraged and was considering giving up!
She decided to talk it over with her pet giraffe Sophie. It was very smart of Isabella to speak to Sophie, because Sophie had been around many, many babies and was extremely wise. She told Isabella something awfully important.
Here is what she told Isabella: “It is very good that you are eating and sleeping and exercising, Isabella. These are very good things to do, but sometimes you need patience to reach your goals. It is important not to give up. There was a time when you could not roll onto your tummy. Sometime soon, all of your hard work will pay off and you will be able to roll onto your back as well. But then, you will want to crawl and then walk and then ride a bicycle. There will always be something new to learn and the secret is to be patient with yourself and keep on trying!”
Isabella couldn't believe how smart Sophie was! Sophie's advice made her feel so much better. Tomorrow was another day to try—now she just wanted to get some sleep!
Her Mommy put her into bed with Sophie and kissed her good night. Isabella drifted off to sleep, and dreamt about all there was to learn and try tomorrow.
