40: Affirmation is when cadets take their oath committing to five years of military service post graduation.
41: In September of 2008, Kevin was diagnosed with cancer. He took the year off for medical leave. Kevin stayed with the Smith family in HI while receiving chemotherapy. His cancer went into remission in December of 2008, and he began his Cow Year over again in the fall of 2009.
