S: MY Virtual Part 1
BC: "All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work." -Calvin Coolidge | Raising a virtual child has given me the opportunity to fully explore my understanding of child development and to put into practice some pf the knowledge I will need for future semesters
FC: The Virtual Child Part 1 "All growth depends upon activity. There is no development physically or intellectually without effort, and effort means work." -Calvin Coolidge
1: This artifact is about the raising of a virtual child. This was to aid us in our understanding of infant and toddler development physically, emotionally and intellectually.
2: During the infant and toddler years, the physical, emotional and intellectual developmental domains are very important. Infants and toddlers who consistently meet the criteria in each of these domains, their 'milestones', are better situated for learning skills later on in life.
3: As ECE's it is important to make objective observations, observations without preexisting bias or influence, because we need to treat children as individuals. They will not all develop at the same rate and we need to recognize that. | Working as an ECE, observations of the children in my care will help me determine if any of them need any outside assistance meeting their developmental milestones-e.g a speech therapist.
4: By analyzing each developmental stage, I will be able to assess the child's growth and guide them in focusing on the areas that the children are struggling in and that developmentally, are not where they should be.
5: This assignment allowed me to explore the role of a child, parent and teacher and helped me to fully understand all of them along with the responsibilities of each. | All that I have learned in doing this assignment will assist me in my journey into field placement. It gave me a clear view of what my responsibilities are and how to fulfill them.
