FC: Kristen and John
Dear Birth mother, We want to thank you for taking the time to read through our profile and for getting to know a little about us. We strongly believe that for some of us, our children come in to our lives in a different way. Our way will be through an incredibly courageous and loving woman like you. We are looking forward to building a life as a family and welcome you to be a part of it, at whatever level you feel most comfortable. ~John and Kristen
They say people come in to your life for a reason, and that is what we believe to be true about us. After John found Kristen on Yahoo! Personals (she was number 92!), we chatted for a few months before having our first date in June 2002. One and a half years later we were engaged, and nine months later we married. Over our ten years together we have come to enjoy traveling, cooking, working in our yard, spending time with family and friends, and loving each other to the fullest. We tried for eight years to have a baby of our own, but know now that a reason we were put in to each other's life is so that we can grow our family through the biggest gift of all, adoption. We are excited to be parents, no matter how our family is built. | About Us | The Gift of Life I didn't give you the gift of life, But in my heart I know. The love I feel is deep and real, As if it had been so. For us to have each other Is like a dream come true! No, I didn't give you The gift of life, Life gave me the gift of you. --- Unknown

John is thoughtful, caring, loving, honest, trustworthy, and my best friend. He is a true gentleman who will surprise me with flowers or a random message of "Hi Honey! Just calling to say I love you!". I especially love how John hugs me after a day of work and helps me to wind down. We never run out of things to say and I treasure how we share memories and stories of our life together. I think what I love most about John is that he makes me feel safe. No matter what is going on in our lives, I know John is there for me. He is my rock and makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world...every single day. ~Kristen | About John
About Kristen | Kristen is my best friend. I love coming home after a hard day's work knowing that we have the whole evening to spend together. We laugh often when we are together. Kristen can make any rough day better just with her smile and laughter. I love that we enjoy cooking, traveling, sitting on our front porch or back deck after a long day at work, hanging out with family and friends, or just being at home with our pets watching OSU football games. She is my biggest support system and cheerleader and I am so lucky to have found her. -John
 Our Family
 Bailey | Felix
Our Home | We moved in to our home in October 2009. Our development is a growing development with just six houses built, but more are expected to be built soon. Our property has plenty of green space to allow for running, playing, and one day, swinging on a swing set. We love sitting on the front porch during thunderstorms and enjoy grilling out on our deck whenever possible.
We have four bedrooms, two full and one half bathrooms, two living spaces, and one eating area. One room has been designated the nursery, and we are waiting to paint and decorate that room. | Family Room | Kitchen | Future Nursery | Our bedroom
Kristen - For as long as I can remember, I used to say that when I grew up I wanted to be a Mommy. I feel so comfortable around children, and perhaps that is why I constantly hear the phrase "You are going to make a great Mom" and I know what they are saying is true. There is just something special about loving someone so unconditionally, and I have always wanted the opportunity to have a family. In 2006, when we discovered that getting pregnant "naturally" was not going to happen, I was devastated, but then became all the more determined. Now seven years later, I know now how incredibly special it will be when our child is placed in to our arms. I cannot wait for the day when my most important job is be a mom. | Why Do We Want Children? | John - All throughout my life little kids and children would gravitate toward me. When I got older and my friends started having kids I learned how much fun it was to be around them and that I was ready to be a dad. Then in 2009, when my niece Rebecca was born, I quickly learned how much I could love her even though I only got to see her once a year. Now that I have two nieces in Arizona, I am even more excited about becoming a dad. I look forward to making sure that I am the best dad I can be. I cannot wait to have my own child.
What qualities do you have which you feel would make you a good parent? Kristen - I am patient, loving, caring, open, and supportive. I try to look at the positive things in life. I enjoy laughing as much as I do making others laugh. I have the biggest heart and cannot wait to spoil my child with love and attention. John - I have a positive outlook on life and think there is always a lesson to be learned. I am adventurous and a good listener. I am caring and compassionate. My family is the most important thing to me. Growing up I was always a magnet for little kids (I guess they thought I was cool), and I look forward to being a magnet for my child too. Describe your goals for the baby Kristen - I hope my child will be happy and healthy. I hope he or she will set many goals and many dreams. I hope my child will laugh often and love others as he or she will be loved. I hope my child will have a strong moral character, respecting others while showing his or her compassionate side. John - I hope my child is a well-rounded individual who is involved in sports and arts. I hope my child will chase their dreams down whatever path is required. Would you provide status letters and photos of the child directly to birth parent(s) or agree to meet the birth parent(s) with the child? We both strongly believe that interaction with our birth mother and father is important. If she or he wishes contact to be made, then we will certainly abide by their wishes. We will gladly communicate and meet as requested by the birth parents. We know that the decision to place a child up for adoption was not easily chosen, and we will respect the birth parent wishes and desires, whatever that might be.
What are your thoughts about Education? Kristen - Education is obviously something extremely important to me. As a teacher, I see students who love the education they are getting and students who do not. It breaks my heart for those who are not enjoying the learning they are receiving. I always enjoy taking classes, challenging myself, and learning all I can learn. I hope that my love of reading and writing and learning is something I can pass on to my child, so that they too will value education. Whatever I can do to help ensure my child has the best opportunity to be successful, I will do. John - Although I was not the greatest student, I realize the importance of a good education. I know that I will instill the importance of an education in my child. I want to encourage my child to go for their dreams. If their dream is to achieve higher education, then I will support them. If their goal is to seek a certain career path without higher education, I will support them. I will do what I can do to help them become successful in life. | In what religion will you raise the child? Kristen & John - We were both raised Roman Catholic and fully intend to have our child baptized into our faith and raised as Catholic. Following the news that we would not be able to have a biological child, we both really questioned our faith and had to dig deep to understand why we had to struggle while so many others did not. Through time and healing, we have come to realize that our religion has never left us. We are both looking forward to the day when we can bring our son or daughter to the church and have him or her embraced by the church, much like when we were growing up.
