45: On Friday morning February 11, 2011 we took to the road, our destination, San Diego, California. We had made the decision to make the trip all in one day, it would have been a good idea if perhaps there had not been 7 of us in the van it was a tight squeeze, family togetherness was kind of a done deal by the time we arrived at about 1 a.m. having left Blackfoot about 6 a.m. On Saturday we took the day to recuperate and spent the day at the beach and getting groceries it was a relaxing day and I think we all got a little sunburned but it was just so nice the temperature was about 75, just a bit warmer than the weather we had left in Idaho it was about -25 below. On Sunday we Started the real vacation and somehow Ronda got the nickname of The Vacation Nazi, but really, someone had to have a plan, and so what if my plan was in a binder with an hourly itinerary It all worked out and we went to everything I had mapped out. We even got in a few extras such as visiting the Mormon Battalion Museum and spending a few hours in the Old San Diego Town District where we bought some really bad chocolate, strawberry and cinnamon taco shells. We had a wonderful time I think Grandpa's favorite part of the day was getting back to the condo so he could go sit in the hot tub, and meet new people. We really liked the town of Oceanside it was beautiful. Darren quickly learned the way into San Diego it was about 30 min each day, he was glad to get back every night. We arrived home in the middle of a blizzard so I guess the joke was on us.
