S: 2011 July - December

BC: live well, laugh often, love much | 2011

1: No fireworks this year because of the drought, but family, friends, food, & fun add up to a great July 4th. | Jasmine & Jessi

3: A great way to celebrate America's Independence is with baseball & BBQ

5: A day at the Bob Bulluck Museum. We had lunch in the cafe, then saw "Born to be Wild" at the Imax, then Tx spirit theater. Afterwards, we went to Swirl for some frozen yogurt.

6: Swim Lessons at Lifetime Fitness with Gus. | Jessi's been taking swim lessons all month, but today on August 4th, she actually swam unassisted for the first time..

7: Jessi took Summer Hip Hop class with Sophie & Ryah. Her teacher turned out to be Erica, our neighbor. She really enjoyed it.

8: August 4th, 2011 Jessi and Mei Mei

9: Jessi loves to get her nails painted at Golden Nails.

10: This summer, I was trying to enjoy the days that I still had with Jessi before she started school, so we pulled the craft box out of the garage, and she made a frog door hanger for her room

11: Mom, Jessi and I went to Toys R Us one afternoon in July. We stopped in Chili's for lunch afterwards and used the gift card that David had given her. Another day, Jessi and I met Jennifer Johnson and her kids at Chuck E Cheese. This time we figured out how fun it was to win lots of tickets and trade them in for prizes.

12: July 30th, Family Night Out Dinner at South Congress Cafe then a walk to the candy store

13: Big Top Candy Shop on South Congress. Jessi ate Pop Rocks for the first time.

14: Jessi and Nick love to play together. This is the best way for them to spend triple digit days!

16: Mom had a salad, and I got the fish. Afterwards we shared this dessert. | Special cocktail custom made by the bartender. Spicy and Sweet! | This was a very good groupon. Dinner for two at Jeffrey's. I'd always wanted to eat here. | Peach Tart

17: August 6, 2011 I took mom for dinner at Jeffrey's, then we saw Chicago in concert at the Moody Theater.

18: Last days of summer: More Easy Baking | 8/26/11 Jessi's last day to see Josie & Kaylee before they moved to Oregon. We went bowling, then played at the indoor play area at Chick-Fil-A | This is how the dogs spend triple digit days.

19: 4 DAYS AT THE | The week before Jessi started school, we went to Port Aransas. I lost my camera after this, so I don't have many pictures, but we had fun in the pool with some other Austin families. Madison was Jessi's best buddy and showed us how she could do back flips. We also had lots of fun at the beach catching minnows with bacon in her net. We got to see a live sand dollar and saw a guy catch what we thought was a shark, but it was a 42'' mackerel. We visited the candy store and made rice krispy cookies to share with the neighbors. We discovered a new Italian place to eat that will be a new tradition for us. I can't wait to go back next year!

20: Gretchen | While we were in Port Aransas, Mom had to let Gretchen go. She was in a lot of pain and not much more the vet could do for her. She was very sweet and had a good life once my mom got her. She was about 11 years old. Mom's neighbor back in Alvarado gave her to my mom before she moved down here.

21: Last U.S. troops leave Iraq, ending 9 year war, 12/18. | Mom and I loved reading this book. We waited for the movie to come out, then got out the wine watched it at her house. | Harry Potter comes to an end. Mom and I watched the last one "Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows II" at the Alamo Draft House. Whew, that was great! I always knew Snape would turn out good! | Dyle got me hooked on Sons of Anarchy. One of the Best shows of All Time. I love Katy Sagal as Gemma! | 5/2/2011 Bin Laden killed, ending the reign of terror of the al-Qaida leader | Some Highlights of 2011

22: Aug. 24th, 2011 Jessi starts kindergarten at Strickland.

23: Today I hurry off to school, To work and learn and play. I start elementary school this year. What a happy day! | This was not the official first day picture, but we had to recreate it since I lost my camera. Jessi was very excited and nervous to start school, but she did great! I had a hard time letting go of the preschool era, but I adjusted as well. Here we are coming back in September to help out with the class pottery project for the fall festival auction. Jessi has turned out to be one of the best students. She loves to practice her writing and loves to color at Grandma's house. She also enjoys class on Wednesdays and Fridays. | Ms. O'Neal

24: On 9/10, I held over for Dan, then had Dyle drive Mom & Jessi to Scottish Rite Theater to meet some friends for Rapunzel. I rushed to get over there only to find them waiting in the dark. I had the day wrong and the play was on the 11th, so I called Dyle back and he met us at The Hill's Cafe for some great food! Mom and I think they have the best chicken fried chicken and green beans! Then on the 11th after the show, I took mom and Jessi to eat at Hoovers, and we split another chicken fried chicken! | 9/11/11 10 year anniversary. We shall never forget We shall keep this day, We shall keep the events and the tears In our minds, our memory and our hearts and take them with us as we carry on.

25: Sunday evening after the show, Dyle, Jessi and I played Yahtzee. It was Jessi's first time to play and she and Dyle both got yahtzees. Here is Dyle doing the "Yahtzee dance". Dyle also hurt his back at work so, here is a cute picture of Jessi at the chiropractor's office on 9/17 before we went to ACL Fest. | Friday after school, Lyssa, Jake, Nick, Jessi & I went to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream.We are still having triple digit days!

26: ACL 2011 I got tickets from our Union for Saturday's festival. This was my first time and I wanted to see Stevie. | Stevie Wonder | Austin Kiddie Limits

27: Her alter Ego turned out to be a Unicorn

28: 9/19/11 Owen Dodson's bday party at Wazoo. Owen was a favorite friend of Jessis in last year's MDO. When asked who he wanted to invite to his party, the first person he asked for was Jessi.

29: 9/23 Bob was the tall funny character in Rapunzel. Turns out he is in a band called White Ghost Shivers. We wanted to go check them out, and their website said they'd be playing out at Uncle Billy's Brew B Que, next door to the Oasis. Turns out the website was wrong. So we just had dinner, walked around a bit, then headed home. We still enjoyed the afternoon.

30: 9/25 We went to Elgin Christmas Tree Farm for the Dog Day's festival, but they canceled the event due to the heat and low attendance. So, again , when given lemons, make lemonade !

31: Dyle was off on light duty because of his back, so he went with me to take Jessi to her dance class. We dropped her off, then walked around the Walmart. We picked her up and had dinner at Garcia's in Buda. Jessi and I love to eat here!!!

32: While at Walmart, we bought Jessi some new coloring books. She loves to color at Grandma's.

33: While Dyle was off, and I was off on Kelly, We decided to enjoy some family time at Austin Park & Pizza. We stayed all afternoon, then took the toll road home and stopped by Rosie's for supper. 9/30

34: Another birthday. This time at Chuck E Cheese. Happy Birthday to Nicole who turned 6 on 10/7. | Here we are at the park behind Tarka. This is one of our occasional hangouts. When it's not too hot, we have lunch here, then play. Today (10/14) I picked her up from school and she asked to go have lunch & play here, so that's what we did.

35: Happy 6th Anniversary 10/10/11 | We decided to splurge and go to this Brazilian Steakhouse for our anniversary. Dyle told me he never saw me eat so much red meat. It was really good! They surprised us with this creme brulee, and when Dyle took his first bite, he said, "Oh Lord, I just got diabetes!"

36: Happy Halloween

37: 10/14 Last year was so fun, we decided to go back to Boo at the Zoo to ride the haunted train.. We shared some appetizers and margaritas at Flores' then headed to the zoo.

39: Oct. 21,2011 | Cedar Park YMCA Fall Festival | We stopped at IHOP on the way home, and she got some free ice cream. (for being "so cute")

40: Texas Renfest We started off at IHOP for some breakfast, then drove to Navasota to check in to our room at the Best Western. Then we arrived at the festival just afternoon. We had fun doing all the usual stuff. I drank beer, Dyle ate the food, and Jessi enjoyed lots of rides and games.

47: We were too tired to stay for the fireworks. We headed back to the motel around 6:30. We cleaned up and went to bed early. After a great night sleep, Jessi and I took advantage of the continental breakfast down in the lobby. We brought some back for Dyle. Then we watched "Goonies". We waited to check out close to 11:00 so we could eat lunch at K-Bob's steakhouse in Brenham.

48: Jessi spends a lot of time on her swing. It is the first thing she wants to do when she comes home tired. It comforts her and she retreats into her own world. I saw her through the window one day swinging and singing to herself so I grabbed the camera.

49: Who's the pillow now?

51: Halloween 2011 This was the first Halloween that Dyle got to share with Jessi. We went to Circle C to trick-or-treat for a while. Afterwards, we stopped and ate dinner at Santa Rita.

53: She has no idea she's about to get a puppy. | Jessi thinks we're visiting a horse show

56: Jessi's first homework assignment

57: Jessi's 3rd trip to the dentist. She saw Dr. Babot this time, and she had a good check up. No cavities!

58: A fall playdate at Circle C park with Rebecca, and Christina. Abigail, Jessi, Charlie, Hunter, Colt, & Saylor.

59: Some not so great things that happened this year. | Fires across Central Texas In April, we had the big Oak Hill Fire, then on Labor Day weekend, there were fires in Bastrop, Steiner Ranch, Spicewood, and Pedernales. The Bastrop Fire alone burned more than 34,000 acres, and more than 500 homes., resulting in 2 deaths. | Mar, 11th Japan Earthquake 8.9 Magnitude Hits, 30-Foot Tsunami Triggered. The National Police Agency of Japan reported that as of Sept 11, 2011 a total of 15,842 have died | Drought of 2011, State endures driest 7 month span on record!

60: Lots of birthdays this month. Last weekend we went to Phoenix's bday at Gattiland, and Keyma's bday at My Gym. This weekend, we went to Sarah's bday at Locomotion, and Sydney's bday at Austin Roller Rink.

67: 11/26/11 A Merry Fairy Christmas Carol at Scottish Rite Theater. | Kicking off the Christmas season!

68: Time to decorate the tree

69: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

71: 11/30/11 Sights & Sounds of Christmas in San Marcos | Mom rode the ferris wheel with us. Jessi rode the big drop ride for the first time, and we got stuck on a new twirly ride. Then she won a couple prizes throwing darts at the balloons.

73: 12/1/11 I took mom to see the Austin Cabaret "Home for the Holidays"

78: 12/9 The Nutcracker We ate dinner at Habenero's and had some time to kill, so we browsed the next door pawn shop. Afterwards we headed to the theater. Jessi tried to stay awake this year, but she feel asleep about half way through.

79: Reflections

80: 12/10/11 We had breakfast with Santa at Lifetime Fitness.

82: This year, it was raining when we went to Fredericksburg. We ate at the same Baja grill. The Rockbox Christmas show was as good as I remember. The wet and cold didn't keep us away and we plan to go back again next year.

85: Our annual trip to San Antonio to see Myrna & Roddy. We always enjoy the show that First Baptist Church performs every year. We left early this year so we wouldn't be late. We even had a few extra minutes to grab a quick bite at Taco Cabana before the show.

86: 12/13/11 Jessi performs with her classmates in their annual Strickland Christmas show.

87: She fell asleep afterwards at B.J's Brewhouse

88: Dance Unlimited 12/15 Jessi performed her ballet and tap routines for the parents.

90: 12/16 Jessi's class party. | A Season of Love and Laughter

91: Christmas Is A Time To Believe In Things You Can’t See

92: 12/16 After Jessi's school party, we headed up to Georgetown. We ate Mexican food at Patron's, then enjoyed The Christmas Carol at the Georgetown Palace Theater.

93: 12/22 David brings the kids down for Christmas | A Christmas To Remember

94: Family Is The Best Part Of Christmas

95: Christmas Time Brings So Much Pleasure When You Have Good Cousins To Treasure

97: We tried to make glow in the dark bubbles with some glow sticks, but it didn't work.

98: On Christmas Eve, when I got off work, we picked up the Meyer's gang and headed to the Hoppin House for a couple hours of fun.

99: When we got home from Hoppin House, Jessi wrapped her gift for Dyle. ( a little hardware kit)

100: After wrapping presents, we went to the Texas Road House for dinner. Then we drove around a bit and looked at Christmas lights in Onion Creek. It was wet and rainy, so we headed home to open presents.

102: After we opened gifts, Jessi put cookies and milk out for Santa. She also wrote a little message to him and discovered the next morning that he wrote back!

103: Jessi woke up about 8:30 and asked to go see what Santa brought. She got legos, an MP3 player, a doodle bug, and a 20 question mind reader, and some earrings. Her stocking was stuffed with candy, lip gloss, finger nail stickers, and silly putty. I made waffles for breakfast, and we spent the rest of the day in our pajamas, and playing with her toys.

104: 2011

105: We didn't go downtown this year. After recovering from a migraine, I wanted to salvage the holiday, We drove to Buda to buy some fireworks, & got some chicken from Bill Miller on the way home. We enjoyed a few fireworks, then turned in early.
