FC: Ski Escape | by Todd Walton
This story written by Todd in the sixth grade. We were proud of him then and more so now for the man he has become. Mom and Dad
One very sunny winter day, my friend Ken and I went skiing at Lost Valley. We had been jumping off little ski jumps, when all of a sudden we saw the 30 meter ski jump.
The only problem was it was chained off with a sign that said "Don't go off this!" We didn't care so we unhooked the chain and took it.
 DON'T GO OFF THIS!!!
I went first and just as I got off the end, Ken started. We both landed in the same place., Just then the snow started giving way! Next thing we knew, we were in a cave!!!
It was really dark so we took out our power-packed flashlights, but they were just about dead. After two days, we were cold, hungry and frightened. The cave around us is big!!! There are great towers of different colors hanging from the ceiling.
There over in the far corner of the cave, an opening. But I hear a steady drip of water. We haven't heard any flapping of wings yet. It is AWFUL SCARY!!
Every time you talk, you hear your echo. The opening is fairly wide and has wet slimy walls. It was a frozen underground river. The only large water body to empty out in would be Lake Auburn..about one mile away.
Ken and I started out on the ice and before long we came to the shallow, unfrozen water. At last we saw an opening which was quite small and on the roof. I could hardly reach it!
Ken and I pulled ourselves out.. Then we went back to the ski slope where they had search parties hunting for us. Our parents were so glad to see us
Finally we went home and we promised....
NEVER TO GO ANYWHERE NEAR WHERE THERE IS A "DANGER" SIGN AGAIN!!!!
Lost Valley Ski Slope is located in Auburn ME.
This ski slope is a wonderful teaching hill for young and old alike. It has been enjoyed by three generations at a time in our family.
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
This painting of Lost Valley was done by Todd's mother..the slopes are Wildcat and Bobcat..favored slopes of the family....
