22: Day1: Tuesday Aug. 23 *Upgraded to first class for free adult beverages on the way to ATL, ordered ribs on the lay-over and brought them on the plane, called out in front of everyone by the airline staff on the way to Denver CO, rented a car from Fox Rental, very cheap but a definite "cover business," met the son of the Connors Hotdogs Day2: Wednesday Aug 24 *Burpees in the morning, went shopping in the morning at Safeway, purchased snack baggies instead of sandwich bags but the rather hyper and creepy man at the Marriott helped us out, went to the Rockies-Astros game at Coors Field, guy one row ahead of us caught the first home run of the game, very hot day, Breckenridge brewery for dinner, ate grass fed beef and 9% alc. - Agave Wheat (a light and local brew), met Nette and Justin out at the Front porch, flipped a coin for free drinks Day3: Thursday Aug 25 *Worked out at and hiked the Red Rocks Ampitheatre, very energetic & inspiring atmosphere, went backstage unauthorized, saw where all the artists sign the wall before going on stage, went to Look-out Mountain and Buffalo Bills Grave, changed and headed to Coors Brewery in Golden CO. went to cousin Jimmy's for pizza and more local brews - Colorado Native, learned about the O'Driscoll heritage and saw Denver's skyline from Look out mountain at night | Sequence Of Events & Other Interesting Details!
23: Day4: Friday Aug 26 *Visited 2 Chiro offices in the morning, met up with Kier at Dr. Lloyd's in Denver, drove ~1 hr to Boulder CO for the afternoon to hike the Flatiron Mountains, Royal Arches Trail (Supposedly an easy hike... ya right! It's all relative.) Took 5 hours to hike 5,000 feet above sea level, most beautiful and scariest sights at the top, went to Cheery Cricket for dinner (feat'd on Man v. Food), met up with Justin and ET again, very silly, played games like Big Buck hunter and Ping-pong at the bar, rode bikes home Day5: Saturday Aug 27 *Slept in, went to Justin & ETs cute house for lunch, roasted tomatoes (Tizz's favorite recipe), drove up Mt. Evans - 14,000 ft above sea level - highest paved road without shoulders in America! hot at the bottom and freezing at the top, saw cute billy goats, ate dinner at Beaujo's Pizza shoppe where its tradition to dip the crust in honey, spent the night catching up and talking about love languages with E&J, really enjoyed our time doing couple things :) Day6: Sunday Aug 28 *Started drive, made a quick stop at the glorious Garden of the Gods on our way to White Water Rafting in Canon City with River Runner's through the Royal Gorge (class IV & V rapids), navigated the front of the raft, saw the Royal Gorge bridge, prisoner built railroads, heard locust that only mate every 7 years with ex-hippy Mel, who lives out of an old school bus, as guide- her first commercial tour, washed the car, 4 hrs to Durango CO through the mountains in the dark
24: Day7: Monday Aug 29 *Drove to Four Corners, UT, to be in four places at once, met a Houghton grad with a "shoe wall", drove southwest through the slums and Monument Valley, UT, arrived in Flagstaff, AZ, funny Weiner Truck & Backyard Horse, went for a run together, Salsa Brava where Guy Fieri went with Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, margaritas, fish tacos and hand-made enchiladas Day8: Tuesday Aug 30 *First Day at the Gorgeous Canyon! Hiked the South Kaibob Trail - 3mi to Cedar Ridge, had a picnic lunch interupted by crazy birds and squirrels, jumping pictures! watched the very intersting informational video about the Canyon in new welcome center, watched amazing sunset at Lippan Pt at 6:59pm, drove back, hit up Sonic for dins and couldn't wait to shower, long day of awesome Day9: Wednesday Aug 31 *"I did my burpees in the morning and Kier made me coffee, what a keeper!" Drove back to the Grand Canyon National Park, noted where the public showers were immediately upon arrival, took a 6mi. hike down Bright Angel Trail, saw the Mules on the trail, magnificent sites everywhere, took 2hrs down and only 1.5hrs up- do work! showered and got all dressed up for Date night at the El Trovar. Kier forgot ID, Matt saw a Moose, enjoyed eachother's company & conversation over steak and buffalo meat (gross!)
25: Day10: Thursday Sept 1 *Drove to Sedona, AZ to see the tourist sites & Red Rocks - so pretty and such a cute little town, met up with Mr. & Mrs. D and their friends for lunch at the Tlaquepaque Village - El Rincon Ristorante, provided the wrong information on where to go for Kayaks but eventually made it, Luke guided blow-up kayak tour through the Verde Valley river, saw a working honeycomb, a cactus with pink prickerly pears on it, ended at the Winery, tasted authentic AZ wines with eachother in the warm weather on the beautifully decorated back porch, went to Collins Irish Pub in Flagstaff and Billards to play pool after dinner (almost was beat by Kier!) spent the night remembering good times with Brittany Drexler Dippel Day11: Friday Sept 2 *Drove to Phoenix, AZ to Fly home at 3:00pm through Chicago and arrived in Rochester at 11:00pm, long day of traveling due to...... time change... gets ya everytime. All that in under $1,000! Awesome Trip!!!!
