2: Before a cell can divide, it has to prepare itself. This stage is called interphase. There are three stages in interphase including G1, S, G2. The G1 phase is when then cell grows the most and more organelles are being organized. The S phase is the second phase. It replicates the DNA of the cell.

3: The last phase is the G2 phase. In this stage, the cell synthesizes proteins and continues to increase in size.

4: Prophase In prophase, the chromosomes become more coiled up. The nuclear membrane begins to disappear. The centrioles stay at the poles. The centromere attaches itself onto the chromosomes to hold two sister chromatids together. Lastly, the spindle fibers form at opposite poles of the cell.

6: Metaphase Metaphase is the second phase of mitosis. During metaphase, the chromatids align at the middle of the cell. The centrioles join the chromomes together forming a line down the middle of the cell. The centomeres attach themselves to the spindle fibers.Spindle fibers extend from the cell poles toward the midpoint of the cell. The equal forces of the spindle fibers pushing on the centromeres of the chromosomes hold them together.

8: Anaphase In this stage of mitosis, the chromosomes separate from eathother. The chromatids are pulled apart. The centromere pulls off the sister chromatids. Both the centrioles and spindle fibers begin to shorten.

10: Telophase Telophase is the last step of mitosis. The chromosomes arrive at the poles and begin to relax. The centromere divided into two. Two nuclear membranes begin to reappear. The centrioles are recycled by the cell to build some part of the cytoskeleton.

12: cytokinesis Cytokinesis is the last process of cell division. The cytoplasm begins to divide. Two cells are formed with identical nuclei.

14: Meiosis During meiosis, gametes are formed. Meiosis is a kind of cell division that reduce the number of chromosomes. It occurs mainly during sexual reproduction. Meiosis reduces the chromosomes number by half through the homologous chromosomes.

16: Mitosis vs meiosis Mitosis goes through 1 division while meiosis goes through 2. In mitosis, the chromosome number stays the same while in meiosis it divides in half. Meiosis only makes sex cells while mitosis makes everything but sex cells. 4 cells are produced in meiosis while 2 are produced in mitosis. mitosis makes diploid cells, meiosis makes haploid cells.
