BC: My finest recruit, Jacquie Burgoon!
FC: ALI BURGOON | I WANT TO BE ON TOUR TEAM
I had only considered visiting Mizzou because, at the time, I wanted to study journalism. When on my tour, the moment class let out on the quad, I fell in love with this school. In spite of the unsightly journalism school construction, I just loved everything about it. | FIRST VISIT TO MIZZOU: | SPRING, 2008
The summer before my freshman year, I was already obsessed with Mizzou. After Summer Welcome, I was itching to officially move down to campus and be a fulltime student!
I know that I would be able to successfully give quality tours of our campus because of my good public speaking skills. In high school, I was a news anchor on our morning news and am very comfortable speaking in front of crowds.
I served as captain of my third place cheerleading team my senior year of high school, as Homecoming liaison, and presently as the VP of Administration for my sorority. Through my leadership experiences, I have learned how to work under pressure, deal with stress and problem solve.
From our stunning campus to the people who go here, I love sharing what this University is about with prospective students.
My favorite football game was in 2009 against Nebraska (pictured on right). The power went out and the weather was very cold and rainy. I had a blast! The Tigers lost, but it was so much fun being with our fans and staying until the end to cheer for our team.
Not only do I have school spirit for Mizzou athletics, but I also enjoy participating in Greek Week, Homecoming, and Rockin' Against Multiple Sclerosis.
I look forward to attending various Mizzou student and community-run activities and fundraisers, as well.
My work experience includes: --Lifeguard/swim instructor --Cheerleading coach --Camp counselor --Daycare teacher --Law firm intern | Through lifeguarding, I taught swim lessons to children of all skill levels and ages. I also learned how to problem solve and act quickly in lifesaving situations.
I was a volunteer camp counselor at YMCA Camp Eberhart in Michigan, an overnight camp, for two summers in high school. I learned to be proficient in and taught boats, canoes, and kayaks, waterskiing, and high ropes to kids of all ages.
